32oz growler. American IPA brewed with Rye. This pours an unfiltered looking burnt orange with a finger or so of frothy bright-white head. Rich foamy ringing dots the sides of the glass with sticky swathes of lacing. The aroma smells equal parts herbal and medicinal with a backing mix of citrus, rye and light tropical fruit. That medicinal character is a bit too strong here I’m afraid. The taste has a fresh green bitterness to it with herbal and tropical flavors that spread out and then finally resins that linger in the finish. The rye here is flavorful but not overpowering, nicely mixing with the citrus flavors that are present to add a moderate tanginess to the profile. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharpness on the tongue and then more of a firm creaminess that expands out into the mouth. Underlying oils really add some slickness to this. Alcohol is well hid. This is the first Liquid Hero beer I’ve had in a while and I’m still not hugely impressed. This was certainly decent but the off-notes in the nose need to go.
