Enjoyed on-tap @ the Ocean Brewing Co in Laguna Beach, CA for $5. Tapped into a Pint Glass from a Wooden Handle and this was the only other beer they had brewed of their own.

Aroma- Low hops from the start, medium amount of malt character, and has a very small caramel characteristic but at least its present!

Appearance- Received with a .5 finger head and dies quickly... Clear, amber color body and leaves very small lacing.

Flavor- Small hop flavor, but has great malty and caramel sweetness! Balanced and very good! Has a a small finish with bitterness but not to worry.

Mouthfeel- Light-Medium Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Smooth, and has good hop on the palate but very watered down.

Overall Impression- Easy to drink and good attributes here and there but I am just wanting more body from these beers! Is this too much to ask? Ocean Brewing does have good brews but if they only have 2 on-tap at a time, why don't they perfect these to the fullest? Will be back someday!

Single finger head with amber and touch of golden color. Aroma was weak; malty and little hops. The two beers I tried at the pub seemed to go for a solid tasting beer that is also refreshing. Light to medium body. mild carbonation. Not too bad. Can't beat being in Laguna though. I think beer would just taste better there anyway.

The beer poured a clear dark amber with a white head. The aoma is dark and malty having almost a vinuos note. The taste is toasted malt and hops. The feel is light and on the dry side. Ok but a bit moe malt would have been nice. It didn't live up to the rich aroma.

On tap at the brewery. I tried all three offerings available the day I visited, and this was my brew of choice. Poured a dark red color with a thin head. As the head drained it left a nice lacing down the glass. Aroma was a light hoppiness. The taste was very well balanced, with a medium mouthfeel. Nice hoppy finish.

A very sharp tawny amber ale that had one finger of fine tan head and laced well. The head was short-lived but left a lacing layer that was adequate. Nice caramel malt nose with some spice notes. Good snappy flavor filled with spicy malt taste and a great crisp ending. Quite drinkable.
