My first growler filled at a store here in NC!!Pours into an imperial nonic a clear rich copper color with a clingy thinner white head atop.Aromas of sharp grapefruit rind and mild pine, not much sweetness.Dry and sharp hops on the palate, grapefruit rind and evergreen flavors with a tinge of aspirin wich doesn't bother me,wow not much dryness here.A bit sharp in the mouth but this a hopheads beer,if you like in your face sharp hops this is what it's all about.

Had this one at the source! Served from tap into a NoDa shaker. Poured a golden yellow-orange with a two finger slightly off-white head that subsided to a half finger very slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, and spice. The flavor was of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, and spicy hop. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. I was hoping for a lot more out of this one if I am honest. Unfortunately it wasn’t overly complex and seemed to be dominated by an earthy note more than the hoppiness. Too bad. However, with that said, it was still rather easy to drink my shaker while hanging out at the brewery. NoDa is doing some good stuff, but this isn’t their best brew of the style out there. Worth trying if you drop into the brewery for a brew or two.

0n-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber-yellow in color. It poured with a thin beige head covering the surface and sides of the glass. No carbonation is visible.
S: Light to moderate aromas of pine resin hops are present in the nose along with notes of citrus.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has a light to moderate amount of bitterness along with faint hints of initial malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has a really nice balance between the malts and hops.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, nut-caramel coloring with a coating of off-white head. Nose of tropical fruit, with mango in the forefront. Sweet notes all over the nose. Flavors are sweet and rich forward, like fruitcake. Tropical fruits and cherries, with wood and earth notes, and peppery hops. Smooth, light, effervesced body, with a tangy and spiced aftertaste. Clean, light finish. Interesting brew, leaving a great lacing behind on the glass.

Sitting at Noda. Testing beers. Light & crisp. Easy to drink.

Basic American IPA. Solid but no frills and not really that memorable.

Appearance: Arrives with a clear amber color capped modestly; while there was a copious amount of lacing, the retention was not great

Smell: Balanced between the caramel and pine, with faint onion and aspirin elements

Taste: The bready, caramel malt flavors underpin the profile from start to finish; the hops play a complementary role, bringing pine and some pith, along with the onion and aspirin elements

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Nicely balanced with an unusual hop profile; normally, I prefer more citrus but this was still rather good

Nothing exciting about this brew. Upon sipping this beer all I taste is bitter hops. Very little balance. I'll pass on this the next time.
