I aquired this 750mL bottle from a friend. After enjoying this beer on tap I'm eager to try it out of the bottle. Apparently Taps bottled this for an event celebrating their tenth year of business in Brea. Congratulations to Victor and crew. Poured into a Franziskaner Weizen glass.
A- Joe's Dunkelweizen pours a hazy, dark-honey color with some yeast particles floating throughout. The lightly-tan head of foam is dense and creamy, and it leaves a few patches of lacing as it settles to a thick cap over the beer.
S- Bold notes of sweet, bready, lightly toasted malts and hearty wheat malt. Banana bread, peppery clove spice, bubblegum and lots of fruity esters make up the rest of the aroma.
T- The taste is primarily of banana bread, sweetish malts and peppery spice. The finish is light and just a touch on the watery side, leaving only a bready malt flavor behind.
M- The feel is on the medium side of full-bodied with a creamy and slightly chewy texture and the perfect amount of delicate carbonation bubbles.
D- Very drinkable. The flavors are big enough to keep things interesting, but it's overall a fairly light Dunkelweizen.
