Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
A refreshingly tart and crisp hefeweizen brewed with local MA wildflower honey, orange peel and coriander, and fermented with the juice from over 1,000 blood oranges. It’s a cloudy, yet effervescent beer, with lingering banana and citrus notes balanced against a healthy wheat backbone and hoppy finish from Mt. Hood and Crystal hops.

A- Body is an orangish yellow hue. Live transparency and cloudiness. Pours with a 3+ finger foamy white head that has excellent retention. Plenty of lacing is left behind in the glass.

S- Orange and a lot of it. Behind this is floral hops, a hint of coriander, and some tartness.

T- Big orange flavors upfront. In the background is spices and floral hop accents and a light to moderate breadiness. The finish adds a slight floral hop bitterness, some tartness, and a little bit more spice. Left to linger is a lot of orange, a hint of tartness, and a hint of spice.

F-Medium to high tingly carbonation, and a light to medium weight mostly bready/juicy body with a slight acidity to this.

O- Overall this is a decent, rather unique brew. Its an orange juice bomb. The orange overshadows everything hefeweizen about this beer. It is slightly tart and acidic as well. I bought a bunch of Slumbrew beers on vacation this year because I had never heard of them and I like their labels-none of their beers have been awesome-but interesting and worth a try I guess.

A: The beer is hazy yellowish amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with just a few bubbles on the surface that rapidly vanished.
S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat are present in the nose along with notes of bananas from the yeast.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that the banana-like flavors are stronger and dominate those from the wheat. Some acidic hints are also present.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I enjoyed the banana and wheat flavors in this hefeweizen, but it could could of used a head that lasted more than ten seconds and some more carbonation.

12 oz. bottle poured into a weizen glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a one-finger white head. Lacing is a little less than expected.

Aroma: This beer brings a big citrus aroma to the drinker, along with generous amounts of wheat and spices, and some lemon.

Taste: Reading the ad copy, I expected something a little more bombastic than this - I mean, the label references using 1,000 blood oranges or something. It's a nice wheat beer, but it doesn't explode on the palate or anything. Flavors do become a bit more pronounced as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Pretty standard, summery depth.

Overall: Decent wheat beer from this Mass. brewer, which, in my experience, trades in decent beers, but maybe not astounding ones. A nice addition to a mixed summer six, but not a mind-blower.
