Notes & Commercial Description:

Flagraiser IPA is a big, hoppy tribute to the unfurling of the Grand Union flag atop Prospect Hill in Somerville, MA on January 1, 1776. This ale celebrates our passion for hop aroma and flavor balanced with just the right amount of malt.

Huge aroma and resin-y flavors from the elusive Galaxy hops are the signature of this beer. Built on a solid base of pale malts, this double IPA makes generous use of hops from Columbus, Crystal and Galaxy with the Galaxy hops taking the lead during ten days of aggressive dry-hopping.

Nice hoppy IPA that hits you right up front, pulls dry on the tongue, but has floral/caramel notes.

A: cloudy amber; good retention and mild lacing
S: sweet, caramel, lift floral notes
T: malty and hoppy up front, surprisingly together. When they finally come together at the end of a swig, raisin notes are detected.
M: lingering, allowing one to savor their drink (or hate it) longer
O: the lingering mouthfeel fades to a little metallic taste. Maybe just a little sweet. Neither for me is strong enough to override the good mouthfeel and floral notes of this IPA

I guess I should have reviewed this last week... ah well...
eyes...
2 fingers of super white head, super sticky lacing and just a nicely constructed head on all counts, clear orange hue with an organized filing of bubbles making their way (in an orderly fashion) to the top, a very nice looking IPA

nose...
nice mix of orange and herbal notes, caramel notes in the back, the dry hopping is definitely coming through, although this is not some dali of fantastic fascination it smells great to this schnozola

taste etc...
sort of oily (hop) with medium mouth feel, the carbonation is flawless, there is a nice bite of prickly bubbles and they carry through the sip, the balance here in flavor is key, you get everything you want in an IPA
-good hop flavor
-balanced sweetness without being too sweet
-bitter finish that lingers
-satisfying feel
---and you want another sip
the hops have a great role here, they play off the malt nearly perfectly, you get immediate citrus and then later the nice bittering that never quite overpowers the malt, the ABV is also just right

verdict?
excellent. I will keep my eye out for this in the future, hopefully on tap!

Appearance: pours a dark orange color with a 2" head. Nice lace develops.

Smell: light pine and grapefruit comes through to the nose.

Taste: big caramel flavor with pine, grapefruit, pear, and a hint of mango. Bitterness is sharp but not overly so. Alcohol is lightly noticeable.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Light crispness to start, lightly crisp and a bit dry at the finish.

Overall: an easy to drink beer. Nicely flavorful and worthy of a try.
