Notes/Commercial Description:
Finding new zymological expressions is a noble dedication of the craft beer enthusiast. For those committed to the adventure of seeking new styles, beer destinations and breweries, we applaud you and dedicate this golden Belgian-style trippel ale.

This smooth and alluring Belgian golden ale is full of complex fruity pineapple flavors set against a spicy finish. Dried jasmine flowers added in the boil work with a higher alcohol level to augment Belgian pilsen, caramel and honey malts. Hop character is distinctly Chinook with an aromatic peppery finish that comes from Motueka hops grown in New Zealand.

Drank a 22 oz bottle, purchased room temp from the store, stored in my fridge and warmed up about 10 minutes before drinking. Poured about half of the bottle into a chalice for reviewing.

Look: 4 - dark golden color, cloudy

Smell: 5 - great bouquet, cloves, banana, it's what I imagine what a summer day in Belgium smells like

Taste: 3.5 a little acidic and thin tasting

Feel: 3.5 light in the mouth, dances around the tongue

Overall: Nice local tripel, great to support the local brewery. A good summer beer. The 22oz bottle encourages you to share with a friend. Good snacking beer to go along with some sliced apple and sharp cheddar or dinner beer served with a lightly seasoned chicken or white fish dish.

Appearance: minimal head, hazy, orange-brown in color, moderate carbonation

Smell: hay, tangerine, and banana

Taste: big tangerine, banana, hay, bread, and honey

Mouthfeel: sweet with slight alcohol bitterness, medium-heavy bodied with medium carbonation

Overall: A solid tripel that drinks almost like a very tangeriney pils. I do like other tripels better, but would not hesitate to pick this up again.

A- This beer pours a deep orange body with a swirling microcarbonation supporting a thick beige film of head. The head last a long time and sticks to the glass, lacing its way back to the beer.

S- The floral dry yeasty esters have a faint hint of banana to it with a clove phenolic coming through also. The finish has a circus peanut candy that leads to a fresh dry caramel malt note in the finish.

T- The dry candy ester has some circus peanut candy and caramel malt hints with a slight white plastic hint. The estery flavor lingers in a slightly dry finish.

M- The medium-full mouthfeel has a thick creamy texture and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- This beer has a great yeasty profile with a soft hop note and some nice malt hints supporting it. The mouthfeel was a bit to big filling the finish. Very drinkable especially at 9%ABV.

Poured from a 650 ml bomber into my Boulevard tulip

Bottled: 5/2012

A - Cloudy, hazy orange color with minimal 1-finger head. Slight head retention

S - Normal Belgian yeasty bouquet with an 'odd' hop smell present. Nice scents of clove and apricot come to mind.

T - Right off the top, the standard Belgian yeast flavor hits you. Citrusy hints of orange peel, apricot, and zinfadel grapes with a little alcohol on the back end.

M- Medium carbonation. Not heavy but reaches every part of the pallette. A little heat from the booze but, overall, masked very nicely.

O - Nice trippel. Not the best but definitely worthy of another pickup

Bottle fresh from recent Maine trip. More of a triple than a Belgian IPA, it marries a smooth orange citrus and Belgian yeast tastes. Nicely drinkable, and not showing the alcohol at all. Orange colour and slight orange and malty aromas.Nice balance though a bias as expected on the sweet side.

Immediately reminds me of merry monks on the nose. Semi hazed brassy golden hue. Sticky bright white head which slowly resides. Sweet Belgian candy sugar on the nose along with toffee faint banana and clove. Some tropical fruit as well.

Very good and again similar to merry monks in taste. Full bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Sweet flavors on the front end, burnt sugar, caramel touch of butterscotch some dried fruits. Dried apricots come to mind along with Apple and pear skins. A graininess flashes across the mid palate. Finishes with a dry spicy and herbal tone. Finishes very dry actually for the amount of sweetness in it. Much drier than merry monks. The aroma and the taste are pretty different but go hand in hand really well. Bubblegum pops up at the end of the beer but just a touch and bit of alcohol warmth. A really excellent triple in my opinion with lots of complexity and well blended flavors.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on February 1, 2014.

The pour has a pleasant looking amber color - about the color of an aged whiskey, with a short-lived of-white head and some carbonation.

The nose does bring out some of the Belgian sugars, pale malts, and yeast I expected but there is also a definite sharp bite in there too. Maybe earthy hops.

Light to medium body.

The taste tends to bring out a bit more caramel malts than the aroma would imply. That is offset by a somewhat bitter finish that roars through my senses.

Slumbrew Trekker Trippel has a thin-to-medium off-white, fizzy head, a cloudy, golden-orange appearance, which is very bubbly and leaves behind a little bit of thin lacing on the glass. The aroma is rich: spicy gingerbread, yeast zest, rich fruitcake, candied fruit, sugar, and heavy bread dough. Taste is of spice, flowers, dough, brown bread, bread crust, spices, yeast, bitterness, sugar, fruitcake, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, with a noticeable viciousness, and Slumbrew Trekker Trippel finishes dry, rich, sweet, and bitter. Drinkability is in the sipping range. Overall, this is most excellent, and I recommend it for an interesting experience.

I purchased this one at the Craft Beer Cellar a few days ago and finally got a chance to break it open. I'm a big fan of Slumbrew's Flagraiser and Happy Sol so I figured I'd give this one a shot as well.

This beer poors a pretty bright orange for a trippel. There's very little head but it's crystal clear and almost no head to speak of. The aroma of this one reminds me a lot of bubblegum.

The taste on this one reminds me a lot of bubblegum as well. I've heard it described as sticky sweet and I'd have to agree with a little lemon. For 9.5 percent I didn't taste the alcohol nearly as much as I thought I would.

Overall, it's not a traditional trippel but it's still a pretty damn enjoyable offering from Slumbrew. Another reviewer mentioned the artwork these guys use and I'd have to second that it's pretty awesome.

Bottle from Sammy, 650ml into a tulip. Bottled May 2012.

Orange with some redder hues, thick white head and really nice retention and lacing. Nose has a spicy sweet malt character, pears, lots of yeast character, leafy and fruity hops, hopping is American with some tropical suggestions. Taste is spicy, malty, yeasty. Herbal bitterness - almost has a bit of Duvel character in some regards. Medium body with a heavy, bubbly carb. Mild sweetness and slice lasts. A pretty good tripel all around.
