Served in a 5oz taster glass from the back bar topped cask at Tighthead 3/16/13.
A: Served a murky, muddy, deep-amber color. Capping this was a thin layer of big-ish bubbles. Retention was fair but the dirtiness of the body looked great.
S: Odd nose on this. Notes of raw walnut and damp tree bark. Very earthy.
T: Just as above.
M: Quite slick and slippery, pretty typical of the cask serving.
O: Interesting, but not my favorite style. I should've tried the CO2 version for reference.

Served in a nonic pint glass at the tap room.
Nothin' like getting a new beer poured for you by the brewer himself. Right on, local breweries! This stuff pours a swampy amber-sienna topped by a half-finger of lightly-glowing cream foam. She sure as hell ain't pretty to look at... The nose comprises walnut, wood, light moss, and light grass in the background. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a touch of mild coffee beans. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, though a decent little Scottish ale, I can't say I really enjoyed this stuff all that much. The hops seemed right on-point, but the malt bill just didn't shine, if that makes any sense. It's certainly worth a go, but it's not something I'm likely to order again for a while.
