Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Light gold with frothy, stark white head and light lacing rings.

Smell: Orange, grapefruit, lemon and floral notes. Some caramel. Similar to other beers that say "West Coast IPA", the aroma seems oddly mild.

Taste: Very hoppy and bitter, with grapefruit, lemon and orange. Some spice, floral and pine notes. Not much malts here. Despite all the hop flavors, it gets slightly muddled and overly bitter.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, medium body with a very dry finish.

Overall: While a good IPA, it seems to be more about bitterness than flavor. I like West Coast IPAs that are actually made on the West Coast, but the "West Coast IPAs" from Midwestern and Eastern breweries never quite live up to their biling.

L: Pours brilliant dark amber under a persistent, lacy 2” sudsy white foam cap that hugs the side of the glass.
S: Light grains with rich hop aromas, grass, melon and citrus.
T: Biscuit flavors seasoned with melon, citrus, and herbs.
F: Very creamy, medium body and carbonation. A slight drying astringency on the finish from the hops.
O: A very drinkable IPA that deserves a wider audience.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pilsner style glass.

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy copper golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Solid three fingers of white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of lacing clinging to the glass.

Smell: A sharp and ripe hop forward aroma. Hints of citrus grapefruit, oranges, mango, tangerine, and lemon zest. Lots of grassy hops. Fairly earthy and floral with some pine resin spice. Some sweet malts in the background with hints of biscuit, cracker, yeast, and caramel. Solid smell.

Taste: A taste of ripe bitter hops and grass like the smell leads. Big citrus hop taste upfront with notes of grapefruit, orange, tangerine, mango, and lemon. Some earthy hops and spicy pine resin. A somewhat floral taste to the hops with a good dose of grass. Soft malts add some sweetness with a taste of biscuit, cracker, caramel, and yeast. Taste is very hop forward and drying. Pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Tingly, juicy, and somewhat oily. Very drying on the mouth.

Overall: A pretty solid West Coast style IPA. Nicely bitter hop mix with good citrus taste. Another good Minnesota IPA.

Another single from Princeton's Liquors. Man, I had this back to back with Lift Bridge's Hop Dish and this beer can't quite stand up. The aroma has a mild floral apricot character and the flavor is most balanced. The sharp, piney hops are complemented by a toasty, dry pale malt, that while unusually big for an IPA, does taste good. The finish has an earthy bite, not soft like a lot of fruitier beers. And while it's not as hoppy as many American IPAs, it does has an unusual and interesting mix of flavors. Definitely worth a try.

Pours a clear golden color with just over one finger of head that slowly settled to a thin cap. Moderate amount of spotty lacing is left down the glass.

Hoppy aroma of tropical fruit and citrus. Faint floral notes as well. Not much from the malt except a slight breadiness.

I like the hops the brewer used here. Starts off with a splash of tropical fruit and citrus, and then finishes with floral and spice notes. West Coast IPA type of malt bill that is dry and does not add much flavor. Bitterness is moderate and they got a lot of flavor out of the hops without bitterness getting out of hand.

Solid body with lively carbonation that suits the beer well. Not harsh at all and helps drinkability a lot.

This is a very solid IPA. Good to have more local options on the store shelves.

Thanks to LIQUORBARREL for this bottle. The bottling date was smudged so I couldn't read the freshness info. Poured in to tulip.

A - Medium yellow, translucent. One finger of thick, cream coloured head.

S - Grapefruit and pine with some secondary tangerine and peach aromas compliment a moderate bitterness. A slight sweetness is present in the background.

T - A sharp hop presence up front with pine and grapefruit flavours and a very light tangerine profile. A touch of malt sweetness in the background.

M - Medium body and full of hop oils. Moderate carbonation.

Teetering between a rich golden color and crimson. Smells like hops and grains. Might have had a bad pour at my bar but it had a soapy taste to it. Disappointing

Poured from 12 oz bottle into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a clear dark straw yellow hue with 1/2 inch white head with decent retention. Hint of sediment floating throughout the brew. (4)
S: Mild orange, grapefruit, and pine notes. Fairly subdued. (3.5)
T: Sweet citrus (orange more than grapefruit), lightly sweet caramel malt, bready yeast, and toasted grains. More malt presence than I was anticipating. (3.5)
M: Smooth and lightly sweet. Moderate hop bitterness and dryness in the finish. Slightly oily feel. Light body. (3.75)
D: A decent brew. More sweet malt presence than typical for style. (3.75)
Thanks Kris!

Randomly ran into this at the Wild game, and was impressed. . Always looking for good local IPAs. Unsure how fresh this store bought bottle is (damnit). But I don't think this was released all that long ago, and it was in the fridge at the store.

Pours light orange, darker than most IPAs. Carbonation is fine.

Smells are piney/grassy. Some carmel malts too. But definitely has the IPA aromas.

Tastes are bright and bitter pine, citrus in the back. not a lot of malt, but enough to support the hops. I liked it more than I expected to, and there are more hops here than I figured there would be. .

Pleasantly surprised. They hopped this one up nicely.
Needs to be dated, however. If I could pick up a 6 pack of this and know the freshness, I'd buy it at a bottle shop once and a while.

Lighter shade of golden-orange with a transient khaki head that leaves a bit of lace. Smell was strongly grapefruit/orange pith & peel, hint of resin and light malt. Taste was moderate to strongly bitter across the tongue with strong elements of grapefruit pith and citric flavor. Body was lighter side of medium with a refreshing mouthfeel. Lingering chewing on grapefruit peel bitterness type of finish. Foto is almost entirely one dimensional at that, but nonetheless enjoyable enough to try again.

This beer pours a clear amber-bronze color. The head is half an inch in height, and recedes into a small cap of foam. The aroma is grapefruit, citrus and some underlying caramel. The taste is similar to the aroma with a sharp bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, and a smoth texture. Overall, this is a solid ipa that I would drink again.

Appearance: Orange color with accents of brown. Light head on the pour and slightly present while drinking. Low to medium active carbonation in glass. Some random lacing.

Smell: Subtle aroma. Accents of caramel malt are picked up first. The hop presence is a heavier resin and pine body. Some fruitiness but gets buried underneath the heavy pine and malt.

Taste: The front is a spicy pine hops and medium bodied malt with accents of caramel, oak, and resin. That resinous feeling doesn't let up and is very present throughout the beer. Mild fruits with grapefruit and tangerines round out this brew.

Mouthfeel: Really heavy on the palate with the resinous hops. Carbonation is low which contributes to the lingering bitterness.

Overall: A pretty okay IPA. If you are a fan of heavy piney IPAs this would be right up your alley. Execution is a little off, I feel like the bitterness is off balance and goes too hard.

A- Dark golden, with a one finger white head that retains well.
S- A very nice smelling beer that brings out hoppy aromas of tropical fruits, grapefruit, lemon, and a touch of floral. Big hop aromas, complex without competition.
T- Very very good tasting beer. What an IPA should be. There is enough malt to keep it semi-balanced but it really lets the wide array of hop flavors shine. Pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, and grass are the big flavors I pick up.
M- Crisp carbonation, medium-light body.
O- One of my new favorite IPA's, this one will stay in the regular rotation.

clear, golden color with amber highlights. small head is sudsy and bone white. retention is decent, as is lacing. smell is spicy, musky, lemon hops. honey and grain in the background. taste is also spicy hops; lemon, grapefruit, and musty pine. feel is a light medium with no offensive slickness to mention.

Love the local brewing scene! This beer was awesome! Loved the big hoppy nose and flavor. Unlike some IPAs this one is dry and refreshing. All the hop goodness and a clean finish. The only problem is that it is hard to find. My liquor store keeps running out...

Poured a minute or so ago into a glass, crystal clear golden orange color with a pillow finger and half of head with good lacing.

smell is sweet fruit, tropical oranges, mangos, pinapples with a decent caramel malt coming through.

Taste is zesty lemon, bitter orange rind, grapefruit and a HUGE bitter finish!

Mouthfeel is dry crisp and bitter.

Well I picked this six up off a whim in MN when I went for a little Abrasive.... And I am glad I did really a great suprise! Good stuff, get it if you can.

One big problem is no date which I usually do not purchase beers with no date... However then store owner told me they just got it within the last week so I figured it could not be more then a couple months old, so I gave it a try and it is definitaley fresh!

However my score will be .25 lower then what I felt the beer was because of the dating issue... I am just sick of breweries not dating... If you can afford a label you can afford to at least have a notch system on the side to let people know the month or week it was bottled!

Pale gold colour, slightly hazy. Ripe musk melon, grapefruit zest and honey in the nose. Hop character from the aroma flows straight into the flavour. Again musk melon and grapefruit. Apricots and pears as well. A bit of hop and yeast fruitiness playing together nicely. Neutral malt character. Bitter finish, almost jarring. Very dry, bitter finish. Good beer. Hops deliver on all fronts, aroma, flavour and bitterness. No pesky malts to get in the way. Very enjoyable beer.

Appearance: Gold, good head.

Smell: Citrusy, good malt behind it.

Taste: Nice sweetened citrus, half orange-half grapefruit. Solid malt backing up the hops, nice bitter finish.

Overall: I'm really impressed by this beer. Gives a lot of good hop flavor while also giving a sweet malt base. Not overly bitter. Always good to have another good IPA in the Twin Cities to go with Furious and Saga.

Picked this up a few weeks back at the Bottle King in Livingston. This was going for around $5 a six-pack (on sale) and since I never had it before, I picked up one to put into my rotation. I always say that IPA's are a dime a dozen but this one was better than I expected it to be and was a good example of what one should be, when it came to emulating West Coast styles without actually being from there. There was a nice body, good balance, and enough hops here to satisfy me and I'd expect nearly anyone who gave this a go to feel the same way!

The pour to this was great, as this beer had a dark and glowing amber hue that was a bit cloudy, with a thick head the quickly settled and nice, soapy rings that settled in nicely on the side of my pint glass. Not much of an aroma here but there was some earthy hops that could be discerned. More of that was in the taste, along with some pine, grapefruit and a slight metallic astringency. The malts were somewhat sweet with a hint of caramel stickiness while the carbonation was spot-on and scrubbed away everything nearly perfectly. The body was nearly perfect with an oily consistency to it and a floral undertone that served as a reminder of the aspiration of this beer.

The alcohol was a bit high but you wouldn't have known it by the taste, as it was only when I finally polished this off that I could feel a slight buzz and warming sensation. No, this didn't measure up to the heavyweights of this style but that's not saying much given how many outstanding IPA's are out there. People in Minnesota should be thrilled that they have this available and that the beer scene in the Midwest is catching up to that of the West Coast, Rockies, and Northeast - this was a solid brew that I felt like I stole from the store.

Foto pours a copper color with a great big lacy head. There is a sweeter hoppy aroma, with hints of yeast and earth. The taste has a nice bold hop flavor, with sweet notes of crisp malts, fruit and yeast. Nice flavors, good body. Overall its good, sweeter IPA, some unique sweet flavors.

Appearance: A finger width of pretty white foam. The beer was orange copper in color. A little cloudy. Nice lacing.
Smell: Very hoppy aroma that was mostly pine with some citrus.
Taste: A big grapefruit flavor along with a very nice tangy bitterness. A little sweet at the end. Not a very complex beer. It was very straightforward, but well balanced.
Mouthfeel: A light mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation.
Overall: Crisp and tangy. I got a bit more bitterness in the taste the more I drank it. And, yeah, I like it. It was a very pleasant beer.
