Appearance: Clear brownish red, huge head.

Smell: Bready, roasted malt.

Taste: Roasted malt, very strong coffee influence, a little spiciness.

Overall: A limited release rye beer, does give a little rye aroma and spiciness, but is mostly dominated by a coffee flavor. Still a pretty good beer.

Beer color is a dark brown, with a slight red tint. Produced a big, long lasting, 3-finger head. Left ample lacing.

The aroma was of medium strength. It smelled of chocolate, caramel, malt, a hint of rye.

The taste almost like a brown ale, with a hint of rye. The chocolate wasn't as noticeable in the taste, but the hops come through in it. The hops weren't too overly bitter...just enough to let a person know that they were there. It had a medium-heavy mouth-feel...heavier than I had anticipated. low-medium carbonation.

Very good beer. This is the first Lucid beer that I have really enjoyed.

750ml bottle with a goofy-ass pic of craig on the front. i like the design

Its a dark brownish red, clear, with a head that doesn't last long. Smell is indescribable; a barnyard with a rye bonfire in the middle. The taste follows the barnyard scent along with chocolate, spicy rye, and piney hops.

Amazing beer - they need to put this in 6-packs. At $10 a bottle, it's not really feasible to drink this on a regular basis, yet I would love to.

EDIT: this beer fell-off hard after a couple months. fresh, it was one of the best beers i've had. after time did its ravaging, it was only average. so im gonna knock my score down a bit.

Named in honor of Lucid's largest Kickstarter donor.

Pours a dark reddish brown color with less than one finger of head that settles to a thin cap. Spotty lacing is left down the glass. The second glass was much better with a solid two finger crown.

Aroma is strong with rye malt, spicy, grainy, and rustic. Also get a lot of caramel malt as well. Notes of earthy, herbal hops and cocoa.
The flavor is malt forward compared to most other of the newer rye beers. Nice rye and caramel notes. Some herbal and cocoa hints as well. Bitterness seems low and alcohol is not noticeable in the flavor.
Great body. The carbonation is not lively but enough to give some spirit to the beer. Nice smooth and creamy texture.
For a style that is becomming increasingly popular, this beer stands up next to the best ones. Not as hoppy and bitter, but features the rye with good complimentary flavors.
