Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness chalice.
Appearance: Pours a fairly hazy copper amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Solid two fingers of off white head with decent retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing on the glass.
Smell: A sharp and juicy hop forward aroma with nice bitter hints of citrus and earthy hops. Bold and ripe upfront scent of hops with floral, earthy, and grassy hints. Scent of dank pine resin. Citrus fruit hints of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, tangerine, apricot, pineapple, and lemon zest. Background presence of pale malt with hints of grains, cracker, caramel, and yeast. Slight hints of honey like sweetness. Very hop forward. A pretty solid aroma.
Taste: As good as the aroma hints at, a ripe and juicy hop forward taste with big notes of citrus and earthy grass. Floral and herbal hop notes with a spicy taste of pine resin. Grassy hop notes. Big juicy citrus presence with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, apricot, pineapple, tangerine, and lemon. Subtle bready pale malt backing with some notes of cracker, grains, sweet caramel, and yeast. The hops dominate with a nice bitterness. A very good juicy taste.
Mouthfeel: Body is on the higher end of medium. Carbonation is moderate. Very juicy and oily. Bitter and drying. Alcohol is masked fairly well by the big hops.
Overall: A pretty solid imperial IPA. Good in your face earthy and citrus hops.

Pours a clear, pale amber color with one finger of head that settled to a thin film. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left down the glass.
Wonderful hoppy aromas loft off this beer. Citrus, melon, and a little dankness. Full on hop assault. Alcohol clocks in at 9% ABV but is not detected in the aroma.
Dry malt adds little to the flavor, in fact this is one of those rare instances where I think a beer is too dry. A little sweetness would of been welcomed. What we do get is a lot of hop flavor. More than bitterness but actual great flavor. Finishes bitter with citrus flavor. Alcohol is tasted as well as warmth in the finish.
Solid body with nice carbonation. Not the most pleasant texture because of the bitterness and extreme dryness.
The best DIPA Lucid has brewed to date. I actually prefer this to the 2013 Steel Toe Size 11.

Poured into tulip glass.
A Transparent amber. Half inch head. Thin lace follows down the glass.
S Big flowery aroma. Cut grass, dandelion, orange peel.
M Light. A little sticky and fizzy.
T Just like the aroma. Citrus up front. This is heavy. Bitter hoppy aftertaste. Not unbalanced. There is some malts and sweetness here.
O Really nice IPA. I have not been a big fan of Lucid's other offerings but this one is a winner.

Apricot colored liquid topped with a quarter inch of tawny foam that laces. Smells of tropical elements and citrus. Pineapple, papaya, mango, oranges. Very inviting. Taste is crisp melon, unripe papaya, orange pith, green apple, biscuit caramel malt. The pungent flavors are complex enough that they clash a little bit and are not quite as delicious as the nose hinted at. Moderately bitter. Medium body. Strong carbonation. Finishes a bit sour and bitter. Overall decent could use some fine tuning of the hop flavors.
