Sin Bin is a celebratory ale honoring the time spent in the penalty box. With sweet, toasty malt overtones and a delicate hop finish, Sin Bin is the official craft beer of the not-so-delicate Indiana Ice hockey team.

L: A vigorous pour resulted in a thin head than quickly disappeared leaving very little lace behind. A bit disappointing compared to the rich head I have gotten from other Belgian pales. The coloration is a rich orange and that is spot on for a pale.

S: The aroma is really weak. No hints of spice and just a bit of crisp malt. Also a slightly metallic hint in there. Really disappointing.

T: The taste up front is rather sweet and tangy. The body is full of strong citrus fruit notes, but they aren't as dark and rich as I like in a Belgian ale. More like a marmalade jam in my opinion. Which might work better if the toasty malt flavors weren't so buried. There is an unwelcome slightly metallic taste in the body as well. The finish is kind of a tug of war between the tangy sweetness and light floral hop bitterness. The aftertaste is very crisp and has a lingering sweetness on the palate.

F: The mouthfeel is very crisp and bright. Not heavily carbonated, but a bold feel nonetheless. It might be welcome if it wasn't accompanying an unbalanced flavor.

O: I'm really disappointed with this beer. The tangy sweetness in the flavor profile overwhelms everything else and leaves it very unbalanced and there was an odd metallic taste that came out when I was trying to taste past the sweet flavors for some malt or hop balance. I'm not a big fan of sweets or sucking on pennies, so this didn't appeal to me at all. I think I will probably give away the rest of the six-pack that I picked up to someone who is more into ciders than beer because it probably appeal to them more.

This beer was poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Blind Pig mug and drank at apx. 55F.

Bought in a 12 oz bottle in Elkhart, IN and poured into a glass.

Slightly tangy aroma with a slight bit of weird thrown in the mix.

Pours a clear amber with a rapidly disappearing head.

Flavor is a mess. A little of fruit, maybe some hops, but mostly there's just this weird tangy note that doesn't fit this style. Fairly sweet. Maybe some pineapple.

Mouthfeel is also weird. The tangyness sets my tongue on edge in a bad way.

The only good way I know to describe this beer is that it is disorganized and not harmonious.
