Oh man look out for the hype train!!! ;)
So you're supposed to drink this from the can, but I wanted to try some from a glass too so I poured a little out.
This pours a very hazy golden orange with a finger of off-white head.
The aroma is very floral, there is some pine, grapefruit and some citrus as well. Not really any malt that I can detect.
The taste is very hop forward with a good amount of floral, pine, grapefruit and orange right up front. There are some sweeter tropical fruit notes like peach and mango too. There is a bit of caramel malt, but not too much and to just add some balance to the beer.
The body is medium and the mouthfeel is crisp and clean, but leaves some hop residue on the tongue. The alcohol is extremely well hidden and it's very, very easy to drink.
You definitely wanna drink this from the can because it really does enhance the hop flavors compared to pouring it in a glass. This is a great DIPA, but certainly not my favorite. It has very nice flavors, but I prefer a more intense DIPA and more tropical, juicy fruit notes too. Definitely worth trying, but nowhere near perfect in my eyes.

Not sure why there so much hype behind this beer. I loved the old Alchemist pub in Waterbury and miss it a lot. Alchemist makes a few great beers but Heady Topper isn't their best offering. Living near the brewery makes you hate it however. Tourist obsess over it and it's become an annoying attraction.
