16oz can poured into Speigelau glass

A: did not pour entire can in so was pretty clear compared to pictures I've seen a little dirty straw with some haze

S: light tropical fruit gives way to herbal smells with some earthiness and a light bread smell

T: very herbal with some earthy hoppiness it does have some light fruitiness it's fairly complex

M: wow does this have a nice creamy mouth on it so good

O: I'm disappointed after wanting to try this so bad I wouldn't consider this world class the mouthfeel is world class and while a tasty double IPA it's not as fruity or tropical as I would have liked it, it hints at fruit but it's a lot more earthy hops and herbal tasting. It is a very complex IPA, but I just have had so much better IPAs with less work. That mouthfeel though wow.

Best I've ever tasted. The hops are incredible, but it finishes superbly with no harshness.

There is a reason this is #1. What an epic DIPA. Worth the trip, the cost, the everything. Still, remember it is just beer. Some people hype it up to be god in a can. Too much hype can be a bad thing. Still, what an amazing brew. Cheers to The Alchemist!

Poured into a glass.

Look: Hazy bright/light orange yellow. Said to drink out of the can, but nah.

Smell: Somewhat musky, citrusy, heavy on the pine.

Taste- Hops hit first, which cascade into an insanely well balanced hit of pine and citrus. Lots going on here with grapefruit and citrus. Hard to get a hold on because everything is so well balanced, but above all else- delicious.

Feel- Dry finish with a medium body that leaves you wanting another sip

Overall- Had been looking for this for a few years now and was very excited to have a chance to try it out. I mentally prepared myself to combat the hype around it and try it objectively, which was difficult to do after the first sip because its so damn good. Hands down one of the best beers I've ever had.

As advertised, one of the greatest beers known to mankind. It was indeed worth all the trouble and cost it took to get my hands on Heady.

Combination of two separate drinkings. Once from the can, once from a snifter on two separate days.

A: 1) Metallic, silver with a guy who appears to have flaming hair. No light comes through. For some reason he's drinking from a glass when it says not to. 2) Golden, clear in appearance as I left the last 2-4oz in the can to drink separately.
S: 1) limited amount coming through, definitely grapefruit with some melon. 2) Much more open. Citrus, pine, grapefruit all come strong on the nose.
T: 1) Nice and clean, balanced flavor throughout each sip. Somewhat dank, a bit of tropical fruit pushing through. 2) More tropical fruit comes through from the glass
F: Nice medium carbonation and a dry finish. Comes across the same in the glass.
O: Excellent double IPA with great balance

This was my first double IPA ever, and it's still the best I've ever had. Can't wait to try it again.

Amazing drink! Tried it with my brother in San Diego. He was able to get from a coworker that has family in Vermont. Definitely lived up to the hype.

Unbelievable balance. My first thoughts were that it's a fantastic beer with incredible hop flavor, but probably not the best beer in the world. However, now when I drink an IPA I realize everything the Topper was and everything the beer I'm drinking isn't.

Was able to try after a friend visited Vermont. A beautiful beer visually (I cheated and poured into a Spieglau IPA glass.)
While I absolutely enjoyed it, I wonder if the quest to obtain Heady overwhelmed the experience of tasting it.
I am a relative noob, but I can recognize a truly great beer and this is definitely one! Definitely worth the try-though if I'm being honest, I am more partial to Gandhi--but that could be a Connecticut bias;-)
