A: The website made me categorize this even though it tells you to drink from the can. The can's art is kinda nice...

S: Amazing, as many others have said. Lots of fresh hop smell with a nice citrus aroma.

T: Fantastic. With the IBU's coming in at 75, it's neither too overwhelming nor boring. Well bittered for the style. Grapefruit and sticky resin notes.

M: Smooth and appropriately bitter on the tongue. Not overly carbonated.

O: Living in VT and being able to get this all the time (at least Thursday afternoons) where I live I may be biased, but Heady Topper is one of the best DIPA's I've had. At 8% ABV it's biting but not overwhelming (I do like a high ABV stout or barleywine) and keeps it crisp with the aroma hops addition(s). Delicious and perfect for a VT summer BBQ.

A: A very light orange, almost yellow, and quite cloudy.

S: Heavy tropical fruits and flowers: mango, pineapple, lychee, and jasmine. There's very little hint of hop bitterness in the nose.

T: The fruits are not present in the flavor. Instead it's a wash of hop resin; bitter but not overpowering. The finish is sweet and boozy. The aftertaste is strikingly bitter.

M: Medium bodied with some astringency.

O: Good. Not the best tasting DIPA but perhaps the best smelling.

Dear beer drinking community,

Never understood the hype behind this beer. Yeah, it's good, but there are so many better IPAs out there, at least to my palate. Fresh Pliny and Blind Pig are examples. What rogers your jollies so ferociously that you would put this into such lofty heights as being the ranked 1 beer? Maybe I'll never understand, maybe it's the exclusive market, or the story behind it, or maybe it is the fact that you probably over-traded for this, and you're quietly lying to yourself on a site to make yourself feel better and the sensation that it gives you makes you jizz uncontrollably, but that does not make a beer taste better. After all, now there's jizz in your beer. Get over the ego-trip of having a beer people have had thousands and thousands of times over.

Sincerely, a hype hater.
