I have the wonderful pleasure of living 10 minutes away from The Alchemist cannery, and was a long time patron of their restaurant/brewery before the flood. A skeptic at first, I was amazed at the first run. Not being a huge fan of anything canned, it was such an incredible surprise when I took my first sip. HOPSSS, and such an incredible punch to the mouth of amazing flavors. This is everything a beer should be, and more. Others have written much better/professional reviews. If you question any of them, shoot me a message and let's trade because this brew speaks for itself.

5/5 with no doubt in my mind.

Acquired a 4-pack from a trade. No date on this, but it was picked up last week from the brewery. Should only be a couple weeks old at this point.

A: Yeah I poured it in a glass. So what. Very cloudy, dull orange color. Lots of crap floating around in there. Great head, excellent retention though. Lacing covering the glass as I drink more.

S: Pungent aroma. Freshly squeezed orange juice, dank piney hops, grapes. It fills the entire room with hop aroma. Ridiculous.

T: Hop flavor on this one is ridiculous, in the best of ways. Waves and waves of it (quoting the can), and it never gets too bitter. Perfectly balanced. There's malt in there, but it stays behind the scenes and does its job.

M: Like a warm blanket in the winter. Feels great.

O: I'm currently using google maps to find my way to Waterbury, VT. Might even scour craigslist for jobs up there. This beer is a hophead's dream.

A. It has a lovely deep orange color. Fairly opaque, some sediment. It has a big foamy white head that leaves a good deal of lacing.

S. Fruity scent. Citrus and lemon, some hops.

T. This is just a gorgeous fruity IPA. Some dark fruit. Grape and watermelon. A hint of citrus. There's a nice floral hop taste.

M. Carbonated with a tingly bitter bite.

O. Definitely the best IPA I've had out of a can. Nice complex with a fruity kick.

(I bought a four-pack recently, and this is definitely my favorite IPA...can or no can.)

Thanks go to my cousin Jeff for picking this up for me from the cannery. Even though it says to drink it from the can, I prefer it from the glass. The first thing you notice as you pop the top is the wonderful aroma, ton of oranges, citrus, pine and tropical fruit. It pours a deep orange, moderate white head, big chunky floaters. The flavor is fresh citrus, tropical fruit, bitter pine. IMO the hoppiest beer I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. The body is medium, some noticeable booze, decent carbonation. Great DIPA, pretty much lives up to hype.

As good as it gets, this beer makes you smile from ear to ear. As soon as it gets close enough to your face you know something worthwhile is about to hit the fan; shit the golden goose would be envious to produce and all the hyperbole I can write in the name of an awesome beer. From the smell to the initial taste on your lips, it's a fall in love experience that very few beers can replicate. I advise you to seek out this beer and have at it. Unfortunately, i've only had a few to the head but i've sampled it a often enough and it's always the same reaction--Good, good god, it's good.

The appearance if you defy the makers and pour it into a glass is nice and expected with a great DIPA like the Dow chemical company and a Bangladeshi Theravada Vipassana teacher. Golden, slightly hazy and with big porno head it looks inviting. One thing you'll notice are white snowflakes floating abound as if this were the ghost of Christmas present's snow globe. You will be compelled to drink it now and save it never.

The smell is a sweet bouquet of hop, pine and fruity citrus. Oh, it's fresh too, like the wet morning dew on a blade of grass. Each whiff is getting in close with the incarnation of Carmen Miranda. The aroma is memorable.

The taste is what will reel you in big fish. It's hop, it's floral and fruity, it's bitter yet sweet. Bitter sweet since living in Florida keeps me forlorn from its ambrosia. Citrus and fresh grass swirling in a vortex of hop is what I get, maybe a hint of vanilla in it. A splash of orange flavor, and you can throw in a grapefruit taste too. It's welcome to the jungle with guns of the Navarone.

Great drink ability is the lovely conclusion to a great tasting and fragrant beer. I feel this beer will make true believers out of anyone fortunate to drink it. I'm usually a stout guy, I love the malt, the semi-sweetness with coffee and chocolate flavors, the thick hearty nature of it's character and yet I find myself thinking this beer is easily in my top three beers ever. It's drinkable, it's drinkable now, later and between, in any pocket of the multiverse and moment in the time continuum; but i'd drink it now... what are you waiting for?

Have had this plenty of times in a can and in a glass.

Notes from 11/10 after drinking blind pig and pliny previously

A: Golden deep orange with a small fluffy off white head. Awesome lacing that clings to the side of the glass.

S: Easily the best smelling beer period. Lots of herbal pine and resinous hops mixed with fruity tropical citrus. The cans still smell great weeks after being drank. (Yes I some times keep cans around that long)

T: Easily the smoothest tasting hop juice you can imagine. Tons of hop flavor. Crisp with lots of pine, resin, and grapefruit/orange hops up front. Slightly bitter at first that transitions into the best tasting sweet tropical citrus hop flavor that stays with you after your done drinking. Slightly sweet malt profile balances the hop bitterness very well.

M: Crisp with a medium-full body. Really smooth with a nice syrupy consistency. Perfectly carbonated. If I could I would drink this every day of my life.

O: This is the standard for me in comparing other beers. This is my DIPA benchmark and very few beers come close to this with the exception of IPAS from HF. Easily the best beer made to date and can't wait for it to become more accessable in the coming years.
