After a long search over the years throughout ri, ma and ct, I found this place. I live in the eastern/central area of ct that borders ri and have come to the conclusion that Craft Brews is the store to shop if you're an intermediate brewer or advanced. The manager/owner Chris is very good at approaching his customers. There are no ego's here, the employees just want to help and give the occasional advice. They are involved with their customers;they hold a brewing competition 4 times a year, have a recipe for beer of the month and they also have brewing demos.

Some qualities that sum their awesomeness::
Vast stock of grains, quantitive stock of whole leaf and pellet hops that are refridgerated, many strains of white labs and wyeast available, mindful staff, sanitization/cleaner needs, kegs, cellar suplies I.e.bungs, carboys airlocks, hydrometers, spices, and plenty of hospitality that cannot be weighed or measured.

Thanks for existing CBS!

I live in northeast ct, and after spending a few years going to pretty much every brew shop in ct ma and ri, I have most definitely found the best shop. Chris(the owner), is very knowledgable and sociable. I have easily spent a few hours in his shop talking anything from beer to politics to music. Even after hours. I consider him a friend more than just someone I buy my brew supplies from. His wife also works there and she is also very knowledgable and involved. He holds brew competitions quite often, that are always fun. Especially when they get the pizza strips;). He has a pretty sweet beer exchange, just bring two of yours. Drink one with him( quality assurance) and leave the other and you can pick one of many of the home brews in the fridge. He has an awesome grain, yeast, and hop selection. With many rare and hard to get items. If he doesn't have it, he'll order it for you. I honestly never find the need to go elsewhere. Seems to me that all the other shops around are either rude, condescending or just don't know what they're talking about. Not with this guy, he's the man. I would recommend him to anyone!!!

Well this place is great and its right down the road! How nice is that to have a home brew store right down the street? Store is layed out very nice extremely bright and clean. Chris is very knowledgeable about the trade and always there to help or chat. Prices are very reasonable and he has a very good inventory on hand. Also if he doesn't have it he can get it in very quickly. Would recommend Craft Brew Supplies HIGHLY!!!

I found out about this place from a co-worker the week it opened up and I have been a VERY regular customer ever since.
The owners are a nice couple and the location is right off the interstate, and I like the outdoor seating (at least in the summer) for extended beer talk.

Even though I have been brewing and competing for almost 20 years, I have learned alot.
I have also met some great people that tend to be regulars on the weekend.

The prices are as good or better then anywhere else and the knowledge level is first rate.
If they didn't have what I wanted they got it for me in a few days.

The beer exchange is a great way to get to taste what others are making and to get an opinion on what I am brewing. It has also inspired me to brew styles I might not have thought of.

After moving to Rhode Island from Minnesota last year, I had trouble finding a good shop. I began ordering on the web for most everything. I grew tired of waiting for different things from different sites, so I found this shop on the web and stopped in.

The prices are very reasonable compared to the web. The selection is great for all brewer types. They are very knowledgeable as well (at least they appear to be, I'm fairly new ;p).
If you have a recipe, they'll gather everything you need for it. If you don't have a recipe, they'll help you create one. They've also got tons of kits to choose from.

Go check it out!

I have to agree with most of the other reviewers minus the guy that is doing the beer machine(not real brewing) IMO. This mom and pop type shop is a well needed addition to the RI homebrewer scene. With equipment and ingredients for almost everyone that does beer, wine, cider, mead as well as other fermenting ventures, from the beginner to the expert.

This shop has a great friendly and knowledgeable staff that will go out of the way to get whatever it is that you might need. A great selection of various malts and White Labs yeast as well as leaf and pellet hops. The prices are very competitive with other shops and the internet too.

The beer exchange fridge is a terrific idea to get homebrewers the chance to sample other home brews. I can't say enough accolades for this shop. Great job. Keep it up.

Craft Brews Supplies is a godsend. We desperately needed a good LHBS store in the area and we couldn't have asked for better! Chris and his wife (the owners) are very nice people and they are knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. For the size of the store they have to work with, the selection is very impressive. I can honestly say that even after 8 years of home brewing I have learned a lot from Chris in the past year. His recommendations and advice have helped me improve the quality of my beers and in the process he has made yet another dedicated customer. It's really nice to have access to their huge selection of grains, yeasts, hops, and even all the varieties of extracts for extract brewing. It was a pain to have to wait for online orders to show up, but my wait is now over since I can run down and grab whatever I need when I need it. Thanks Chris!

I went in asking for the cheapest beer yeast a few months ago since I had acquired two of those Beer Machines each with Pale Ale ingredient kits for free and only had yeast for one. He recommended this Lalvin 71B-1122 yeast. I didn't see anything on the label indicating it was for beer, so I asked him if he was sure this was beer yeast and he said yes. Sure enough when I went home and checked online it's a wine yeast. Luckily I have tons of fruit that grows in and around my yard, so I can just use this for a blueberry wine or something down the road.

I have visited this shop many times to pick up my last minute brew supplies. The owner Chris has been nothing short of helpful and willing to answer many of my greenhorn questions. I am still new to brewing, and this shop has helped fuel the enthusiasm for my new found hobby.

The location is excellent for anybody in southern Rhode Island or eastern CT. The hours are convenient, even for the working class.

I am still brewing using kits, and have not yet purchased a brew kit from Craft Brew Supplies. With the help from Chris I plan on putting together a recipe for my next batch.

All in all, A great shop in a great location run by great people. Couple that with customer service that's hard to find and you have an all around great shop.

This is easily the best shop in Rhode Island.

They are well organized. Everything is very easy to find around the shop. They have great selection of grains and even have some local hops.

The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They will put together recipes very quickly...even having it ready to pick up on my lunch break when I called it in 20 minutes beforehand.

Prices are reasonable and in some cases competitive with online... and you know the grain will be fresh!

I'm so pleased to find a local shop that I can easily get to, is open at times convenient for working chumps, with very helpful staff!

This store is a godsend to homebrewers that can't get up to Providence on a regular basis. The selection is fantastic, with just about every kind of grain and hop one can imagine. The staff is amazingly helpful, going out of their way to get you just what you need. Every time I brew I stop in there first to pick up what I need, whether it's ingredients, equipment, or advice. The prices are better than average, especially since it's so close and you don't have to burn so much gas getting your brewing supplies.

You can even send them a list of ingredients and they'll put it all together for you to come and pick it up. I can't fully describe how mind-bogglingly useful that is to very busy people. Stop in and check this place out.

I moved to Rhode Island last year and have been on the lookout for a great homebrew shop ever since. Massachusetts had a couple decent ones, but nothing compared to what I'm used to from Colorado.

I saw on RIFT (Rhode Island Fermentation Technicians homebrew club) that this opened up in Wyoming, RI, and decided to check it out. I'm pretty particular about my homebrew shops being an advanced all-grain armchair brew scientist.

What a pleasant surprise!

This is the cleanest homebrew shop I've ever been in. It's neatly organized, and the location is great (just off 95 in a nice part of town, unlike many homebrew shops where you double-check that your doors are locked).

The folks who run the place are friendly and knowledgeable. You can even send them your recipe the day before you go and they'll put all the grains together and crush them for yo. Or, you can go and grab exactly how much you need from bins rather than having to buy grain 1 lb at a time (or formulate a recipe on-the-spot with the staff).

The selection is quite good. They have most of the Weyermann malts along with several from Muntons and some special malts like Special B, Honey Malt, and Victory. Lots of adjuncts like candi sugar and vanilla beans alongside just about any of the additives you could need. I also found the Platinum Strain yeast from White Labs I was looking for, and they even carry some local hops, which is very cool.

This is the best homebrew shop in Rhode Island, bar none--I've been to all of them in my search, and this absolutely leaves the rest in the dust.

If you live in Rhode Island or eastern Connecticut, check out Craft Brews Supplies and you won't be disappointed. This is now my official LHBS.

Craft Brews Supplies is a small mom and pop type store that sells equipment and ingredients for making beer and wine.

The prices are reasonable and they really have a nice selection of both equipment and ingredients.

The staff is helpful and have been happy to order anything that I've been looking to buy that they don't normally stock.

The atmoshphere at Craft Brews Supplies is pretty relaxed and the owner Chris seems to really enjoy talking "homebrew talk" with his customers. He is very knowledgeable and has been happy to give me advice when I've needed it.

Great local store with a 'country store' atmosphere typical of small towns everywhere, with regular 'brew days' that are nice social gatherings for local brewers and serve as fun tutorials for both new and potential homebrewers.

The only brew shop in the county, and probably one of the most convenient in the state to get to.

Great service with a good selection of kits, ingredients, and equipment. The staff is very knowledgeable and ready to assist first timers get setup as well as anything an experienced homebrewer may need.
