Stopped in for the 2nd time yesterday, after visiting a few years ago just after they opened.

Decent space, hardwood floors and black tables / booths. Lots of hipsters & self-important types fill the place, though not packed on an early Friday evening. Servers all dressed in plaid shirts (hipster charicature) .

Promptly greeted by a knowledgeable friendly server at the bar. Comfortable.

Nice balanced selection of varying styles & breweries, both local & afar.

The real turn -off to this place, however, is the pricing. All beers are at least $2 higher than other places. $8 (+ tax) for a pint of Ballast Point IPA? $7.75 for 12 oz of Flower Power? $11 for a Bruery Saison? Pricing is highway robbery.

Had a few tasty beers then left. Had initially planned on eating, but due to the exorbitant pricing here, that's all I could afford.

The food menu is rather small, but everything on it is done well.
The atmosphere is a pleasant loudness that a good restaurant/bar should have.
The service is pretty consistently good, and occasionally you will be able to get some professional advice for drink selection.
The beer selection is not only tremendous, it is beautifully organized on the menu so you can quickly find what you are looking for.
The prices are average.
Overall pretty high quality.

I stopped in here with 7 friends on a busy Saturday night, so keep that in mind with the ratings. Part of the mixed blessing were the number of expired drafts on the menu. There were several that had kicked and either not been replaced, or been replaced by something that bore no description. I would go here again, but it's a bit of a trek for me and I did feel that the prices were a bit high.

IMO best craft beer selection in Davis Sq. Their beer menus is laid out very nicely by style. Very good selection of bottles as well. Really great variety of local beers is the star attraction - the big beers and specialty brews that you don't typically see at most bars. They have a large but manageable number of taps but they are used very effectively and rotate quite often. Very, very nice Whiskey selection as well.

Wait staff has been very friendly every time I've been there. Food is okay, not the best or worst in the Square but there are some interesting offerings like a variety of gourmet taco appetizers and some good poultry dishes for dinner.

The place is brand new so it looks very nice, it has huge windows and a lower bar so there is a lot of different areas to hang out it. Comfortable but cool.

The only negative I have to mention is price for beer, which unfortunately is a problem at almost every bar in this area and seems to be getting worse. I am tired of seeing 12oz beers priced at $8+. Most of these are from the East Coast, we're not talking rare imports. At least give me a full "pint" pour if you're going to charge outrageous prices per drink.

Like I said this is a complaint i have about a great many establishments in the area and really keeps me from going out more often. At least at Five Horses you can find the occasional good deal like a pint of Long Trail Imperial Porter for $6 or a bottle of Hercules DIPA for $7.
