Went for an app and a few beers late Saturday afternoon; so not very busy. Attractive pub with a bar down the left, with perhaps 15 seats, tables in the remainder of the large room, with another room way down back where bands perform, which indeed has it's own bar; not in use during my visit.
Bartender was very nice, and very attentive. He had decent to good beer knowlegge, learned on the job, but was spot on when I asked about the hop level in various IPA's.
They had 30 drafts and many more bottles. Most beers were local, and were priced $6 to $7 per pint, a little pricey, but not horrible. The selection of Mass. brewers was good, but as a result, not the greatest IPA selection in my book, unless you go to bottles. I had a draft Great Divide Oak Aged IPA that was pretty good, then a local IPA by Opa-Opa, then a bottle of Green Flash West Coast.
No saisons on draft, to pick a complaint, and no killer IPA's, but all in all, I liked the place and will go back. They claim to rotate drafts often, and I have no reason to doubt them. It's great to have another craft beer spot south of Boston; as you know there aren't many.

Very Laid back environment with a huge selection of beer. Over 100 in bottles and about 40 Taps. New beers are rotated in each month. They have an outstanding menu that pairs great with beers. Also they have a "Challenge" where once youve drank 150 unique beers you get your name on a plaque and put on the wall!

Went here on a weekend with Live music. Specifically called and asked if they had a high chair for our little one. When we arrived (Bobby) the bouncer looked at us with two kids and said "It's going to be a while" Now I don't usually look much into this, but I could tell that this guy wanted nothing to do with kids. Long story short, this is definitely not a kid friendly place.

We did put our name in and grabbed drinks from the bar. We only had one couple in front of us so it wasn't a big deal. Actually it was. If you go here on the weekend and the place is full, don't bother waiting for a table. Tons of people plop themselves at a table and just order drinks to listen to the music. Which I get, I've been there. But you have an entire back room dedicated for music, why not put the band and the people back there so people can get tables and order food?

So after 30 minutes, I strolled around to the back area and noticed a table that was open. I went back to Bobby, he said it was "reserved". Now when I had called earlier, they don't take call ahead or reservations. I shrugged and we continued to wait. I then had to use the facilities and noticed that people were now sitting at the table. Considering we were next, I decided to ask him what happened. He stated some people just grabbed drinks and decided to sit down but agreed to leave in a hour when the party showed up. Really? So lesson learned (not that I will be back) its a free for all with the tables don't bother putting your name in.

Constructively, the do have an extensive draft list. The sad part it isn't that good. More crap on tap, than good beer. I was hard pressed to find a decent IPA at the place. Their taplister was out of date as well. I don't expect it to be perfect but when there are 5 beers on there that according to the bartender have been kicked "days ago" you are wasting my time.

Long story short, there are better options out there. Especially in Plymouth.

Great spot ,one of the few bars I will actually go to in the area I live in .Great selection of beers with a website that updates the tap list regularly ,32 taps and 110 bottles what's not to like about that. Taps rotate pretty regularly with the seasons but represent all styles and have a good mix of local and world class beers .The staff is both knowledgeable and attentive .The food I've tried is fantastic I've only had a few appetizers ,the braised pork belly on a steamed bun is possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten. If you live in the area or are vacationing in Plymouth you need to go to the New world tavern ...Awesome

My wife and I had a rare evening off and decided to do something new and nice, so we found this place courtesy of BA and some online reviews and decided to check it out. Nice little restaurant on a strip, parking situation wasn't great, but we got lucky and found a nice spot. Kind of a older college which made us feel a little old considering I'm pushing 30. Plenty of bar tables, a decent sized bar and some booths along the edges. Cool beer related paraphernalia all over the place, a top shelf with a ton of tap collections and cool posters, tins, and bar lights. There's a back room that's mostly a stage, but there's a few tables, a sound booth and a small bar for mixed drinks and I think some bottled beer. They do small band performances and comedy acts there.

Quality seemed top shelf classy without the judge mental feeling. Nothing was white, but everything was clean. In addition, the structure was put together well and very orderly.

I think it was an off night where they seemed very understaffed, but the service ended up being very good. When we first arrived it was a seat yourself type place, which I'm fine with, but nobody approached until we went to the bar and had to inquire about menus, drink orders, ext. The Bartender was pretty much running the show and did a good job handling it. Once a few people left he even came up and apologized and explained the situation which we appreciated.

Selection is very good, according to the bartender almost always rotating wether bottle or tap. Had about 40 taps if I remember correctly, a lot of local/regional stuff at the time (Mayflower, Harpoon, Jack's Abby, Opa Opa, The Tap), a fair amount from Boulevard, probably like 4 or 5 ( I only remember Saison Brett and Oak Aged Porter, but there were a few more), plenty of others as well. Nothing super rare, but pretty well thought out. Bottle selection was huge, probably 150 different all together both local, national and imports. Saw some Cisco (even Island reserve), Baxter, Harpoon, Smuttynose, Abita, Founders, plenty of imports like Fuller's, Sams Smith, Mikkeller, some Belgian bottles and what looked like some sours too (sorry not my thing so I really can't remember).

Food was really good, we got some appetizers and split an entree, but it was all really good and fresh. What other people around us looked really good too. They had better than average pub grub and plenty of comfort style food as well, slightly classed up. Pricing was pretty reasonable for what you get. Worth a trip or a visit if you're in the area.

Held a reunion of townie friends on a Saturday at this wonderful bar and can’t say enough good about it. In the space that once housed the Guru as well as a brewpub and Puritan Clothing (where my parents used to buy all of our school clothes), New World Tavern has plenty of room for large parties and a nice, long bar with plenty of taps. They’ve kept the backroom music area that Guru created, and I’m glad because it’s a great place to see live bands.

Beer selection was stellar, with many local breweries as well as some of the best national and international breweries represented. I spent the night drinking such beer geek delights as Dark Horse Perkolator, Bear Republic Racer X and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Despite these excellent choices, this is not a place for pretentious beer snobbery. In fact, I got the impression that the owner is taking great pains to respect the customers as much as the beers.

Service was outstanding. The server had no qualms about waiting on first four of us then twenty of us. He never left anyone waiting for a beer, and was extremely knowledgeable about both the beers on tap and beers in general. Once he understood I was a beer geek, he switched gears and let me know about the rare stuff that was available. When we tried ordering a couple of beers that were gone, he quickly produced an updated list for our table—definitely the first time I’ve seen that happen.

The menu consisted of pub fare—burgers, chicken, steak tips, chowder, etc. Most everyone ordered the burgers, and everyone was more than happy with their meals. The entrée menu looked good, and I will return to try it.

I had originally intended to have everyone go to at least a couple of other bars in the downtown Plymouth area, but everyone agreed that there was no reason to leave, and we spent the whole of our evening here. The final bill was pleasantly small, and I will definitely be returning in the future. Nice to see a place this well done this far from Boston.

I really want to like the New World Tavern more than I do. During their soft open phase, my girlfriend and I came here for drinks and dinner 4 times. The beer list looked good; most of the regulars you'd expect at a decent beer bar and a few pleasant surprises. The food the first time was quite good. The second time I ordered something new while my girlfriend ordered the same thing she had on the previous visit 2 days before. Right away we noticed the fries were prepared differently as was her meal. Since it was the soft open, we assumed the kitchen was fine tuning their menu before the actual opening. And we assumed that each time we went back and things were prepared differently. After the grand opening however, we were still noticing changes in the meals. It's really not a big complaint but it's hard when you find something you like and want to have again but you know it will be different. The service here is great. Our servers are always attentive without being pushy. Knowledgeable but they won't bullsh** you if they don't know they product. Instead they'll ask someone who does and report back to you. This is a great approach. As far as the overall vibe of this place... I really don't know. It's hard for me to put my finger on it but it just doesn't connect with me. I could be way off but it has the feel of a place run by businessmen as opposed to food/craft beer enthusiasts. In my experience if the ownership/management has a love for what they're doing and the product they're selling then it shines through. I just don't get much of that shine from New World Tavern.

Me and the girlfriend went here on a gorgeous saturday early afternoon to grab a pint and food. As soon as we walked in we were graciously greeted and selected a seat at our own disgression. The prices are very reasonable considering they have an extensive selection of draught and bottled beer. The food was great! Very fresh. The beer was excellent! I had one of my fav's Southern Tier 2x IPA on draught. Very hard to find on draught. Very relaxed setting as well. Not crowded but even if it was there is plenty of room to enjoy.

This is one of those situations where I almost do not wish to praise this tavern because then it will become crowded.

Service of flights or samplers is very well-done. I haven't seen better.

Food is not the norm. Not gastropub but not the average bar menu. Food is brought hot and the waits are not long. The bar is sometimes slower than the kitchen.

Great beer menu and selection.

Despite the music I enjoy every visit. Dialing it down would make me feel more welcome.

I am a beer guy not a bar guy. I go for the beer and the food.

Carl, one of the owners, has a great sense of humor.

Their website could become more helpful but it does its job.

As you walk in you feel welcomed with a large bar on the left with a string of tap lines that are always filled with great beers. The owners are always there and willing to talk beer with great passion. The food is upscale pub food prepared with great care. The tap list hits everyone with no crap (ie BMC) on tap and a bottle list that geneously represents every style. This is a great place with live music on the weekends. Plymouth center is lucky to have such a great new surge of great beer focused bars.

Went to this pub at the end of a tour of Mayflower.

Located about a block away from "the rock". Parking wasn't a problem but it is street in front or a garage about another block away.

Decor was surprisingly classy for Plymouth. Tasteful beer posters, nice lighting. Clean serving area and bathrooms.

The bar had about 20 taps and a fridge of bottles. Prices were in the 7 and below range. Selection was pretty good. A few imports and a great selection of craft brews (mostly New England). Beer was served in proper glasses.

Food was standards for pubs with some interesting sandwiches. All of it was a good quality.

Wait staff was attentive but not overbearing.

Overall I would highly recommend for a good experience in an area that needs a good craft brew bar.
