On-tap at 3 Cellars in Franklin, WI:
Pours reddish brown with a thin head that becomes wispy.
The smell is of smoked wood, caramel with some cherry notes.
The taste is of smoked caramel/toffee A fruitiness that is between cherry and apple, without being too tart or sweet, is there. As it progresses, minty rye comes through, adding a pleasant unique twist. Finishes with a kick of late booze.
Carbonation level is just right for the overall character. Smooth for its strength.
An interesting brew. Nice blend of smoke and rye with a fruity touch. Strong. Enjoyed the one, but wouldn't go on to a second in a row (not just because of alcohol level). It's a unique, big, smokey rye with cherry wood character.
