3.08/5  rDev -15.2%
look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 3

Appearance:
Pours a rather clear, golden hued body with plenty of sediment caught in suspension. Topped by a respectable, white head that withers away slowly leaving moderate lacing behind.

Aroma:
Very earthy hop presence. Light pepper spices things up in an otherwise uneventful aroma.

Taste:
Bitterness is upfront and more potent than most. Excessive grass and pine hop character dominate the taste-scape leaving little room for anything else. Light acidic notes come and go.

Mouthfeel:
Pucker inducing dry finish is a bit excessive. The medium body plays host to very light carbonation and one of the driest finishes I can recall from recent memory. Each drink leaves me longing for a thirst quencher, and this isn't one.... Vicious cycle ensues.

Overall:
Definitely not the worst IPA out there, but there is nothing special about it either. If you're after an IPA that will have you wondering if you mowed your lawn or grazed it, this is the IPA for you!

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Sam Adams pint glass.

Fills the glass with a hazy straw/light orange color with a big, very foamy head. That head compacts down to an almost root beer-like density. It lingers a long time, nearly to the end of the glass and leaves some lacing behind as well.

The aroma is the best part of this brew. Big fruit smells. I get mango, candied fruits, citrus, floral notes and an underlying hint of onion and pepper. Very nice.

This is a pretty tasty IPA. Big bitter and candied fruit up front with some bitter grapefruit, lemon zest backing it up. I also taste a little bit of onion and just a hint of cattiness. It has a nice, drying bitter finish that lasts a long time.

The mouthfeel is about right; medium and a little sticky.

Overall, this impressed and surprised me. Tastier and more layered than I had expected.
Well done.

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Surly tulip glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Huge three finger off white head with good retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: A crisp and juicy hop forward aroma with big hints of citrus fruit and grass. Upfront citrus hops with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, mango, pineapple, and apricot. Earthy and floral hops with hints of grass and pine. Solid malt presence with hints of grains, caramel, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. A pretty solid IPA aroma.

Taste: Like the nose, a juicy and grassy hop driven taste with big notes of citrus and grass. Citrus hops with upfront juicy notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, apricot, lemon, and pineapple. Big presence of earthy hops with notes of grass and pine. Good malt backing with notes of caramel, grains, cracker, biscuit, and yeast. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish.

Overall: A pretty good take on a West Coast style IPA. Lots of citrus and grass taste with a nice dryness.
