Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy coppery amber with a thin cap of light khaki foam with good retention and lacing. Good aroma of caramel and pale malt, tropical fruit, orange citrus and grassy hops. Flavor starts with caramel malt, mixed tropical and orange family fruit with grassy and citrus hops and develops an interesting bright lemon flavor as it finishes with lemon citrus and a good lingering hop bitterness. Medium bodied with some light creaminess. A nice West Coast style IPA with C hops and a good flavorful malt body. The very lemony citrus in the finish is welcome and makes this one stand out for me. Thanks to my friend Jerry for bringing this back from his home state; I was so desperate to try something from the Dakotas that I would have happy to drink anything at all brewed in the state. What a happy day to get a well made and distinctive IPA. Well done Fargo!

Clear, dark amber with one finger of head that had decent retention before settling to a thin cap. Moderate amount of spotty lacing is left down the glass.

Aroma is a combination of citrus, tropical fruit, and caramel. Nice hop aromas but it smells a bit artificial because of the abundant caramel malt.

The flavor conflicts the palate with a big dose of malt sweetness up front and abundant bitterness in the finish. Tastes a bit like a sweetened citrus drink. Notes of caramel, oranges, and grapefruit.

Rather full bodied IPA. Nice crisp carbonation pairs well with the body.

A good IPA and nice it is available in cans, but unfortunately it is not good enough to make its way into my IPA rotation. Just too much caramel malt for my tastes.

On draft at the Beer Place in Perham, Minnesota.

nice looking pint, clear golden coloring, good white head, moderate carbonation.

Not to much on the nose (but my nose is crap anyway) but was getting some hops.

And here are the hops, nice, sweet, a touch fruity. Enjoying this

Mouth was around medium

Overall, a nice pint indeed. Little sidebar here, earlier on my visit up north, I'd grabbed a 6-pack of this in Minnesota close to the ND border. Didn't look too hard for a date. Got to where I was staying and poured one. Ahhh! cloudy, muddy, no hops, bloody awful. After closer examination, a thin vertical line on the can revealed March 2013!! 15 months on. So very glad I got to taste it as it should be. Good one Fargo.

This pours nicely out of the new cans. Perfect heady and lacy IPA.
The smell is strong enough for an IPA but not overtly-complex.
Taste is the weak rating here for me, citrusy with a bit of pine but overall the bitterness takes over too soon.
Good mouthfeel, don't mess with the carbonation here.
Overall I love this brewery and this beer is a flagship for them. Only way I could make this beer better is if the bitterness didn't pronounce itself so quickly and let the citrus and pine smell come through.

12oz can into snifter. Thanks again Pidzik12! No freshness date.

A: Pours a murky dark iced tea color with two fingers of dense off-white head that slowly faded into a greasy and fuzzy film/collar. Sheets of sticky lace were left down the glass.
S: The nose is full of pine sap and oily hop resin mixed with juicy scents of sweet citrus and toasted malt.
T: Follows the nose with flavors of lightly sweet citrus, greasy and bitter hop resin, foresty pine, roasted grains and toasted malt. A bit malt heavy, but hops are juicy and potent enough.
M: Medium-full body, slick and greasy mouthfeel with a good dose of hop resin. Low carbonation, smooth.
O: A great hoppy ipa. Love the heavy greasy hop resin quality. Thanks again, Paul!
