The most powerful IPA in the Due South Category series, the Cat 5 is big on hops and big on flavor. Clocking in at 8.5% ABV and 96 IBU’s, the first bands of malts will make way for the surge of hops on the palate. Designed for the true hophead, this is not a beer for the faint of heart.

Didn’t realize this was an Imperial until I reviewed, and then checked again on the can for the abv content. Not much flavor to it, just seems like straight up hops but not too intense, just taste the high level of alcohol. Have had way better imperials in the past and this one is pretty basic. Good for those who like ipa’s and want to get a led fast but not too good for those who like flavor.

In the Taproom. Amber pour with good lacing, Good hoppy beer with grapefruit / mango / pine notes. Well balanced mix.Alcohol adds good warmth but not overpowering. Tasty!

Can dated 1/2/19 into red plastic cup (hey I'm on vacation in the Keys and it's the best I can do). Pours a nice amber color with a pretty decent off-white head. Initial impression is solid grapefruit, orange, mango, caramel, and a touch of pine. Mouthfeel is not quite sticky, but definitely has some substance to it. Finish is remarkably smooth, ading to a slight bitterness. Quite enjoyable!

12 oz can poured into a .3 l glass. Foamy off white head meringue looking as it rises in the glass. This has such great balance, hop forward bitterness complimented by the malt flavors integrate so well into a delicious whole. May not lay in bed thinking about it but excited for my next one!

12oz can served in a tulip. Canned on 12/22/17. Given to me by @mr-jj.

Pours a fairly clear, moderately dark amber with a very large head that fades very slowly. Smell is fruity, maybe mango or something else tropical, with pine in the background.

Taste is bitter as hell. Tropical fruit has a presence, but my lips are literally coated in bitter hop residue. Wow. It's totally unbalanced, but I like it.

Mouthfeel is moderately thin, but filmy -- leaves a coating in the mouth. Overall, this is a ridiculous beer and I like it.
