This was on tap in Reno, NV. Very pretty, just what a hefe should look like. Bold gold with just thick and perfect haze throughout, great head, great lace. So close to perfect, if not perfect. Good fruity aroma, not clovey, way to go!

Flavor was big on citrus, small on bandaids and clove, nice. Really brought the fruit flavor better than almost every hefe out there. Bitterness and hops are kept the heck out of there. No alcohol noticeable. Don't check this out if you don't like banana or citrus, because its very much what it delivers.

Very solid stuff from the best chain brewery in the world.

A very solid wheat beer from BJ's in Reno. Completely opaque yellow color, not as much of a head as expected from a 'weizen. Aroma was good, though a little weak. Taste made up for it, very smooth and fruity. Banana flavor came through strong.

Very drinkable and easy to quaff.

This arrived as a bright gold with minimal head. It's leaving some token lacing behind.

The smell is nice, with banana tones taking over the bulk of it. However, the taste and mouthfeel are a little thin. Drinkability stays fairly high.

A slight kick of esters give it some character.

Sampled at the Citrus Park Mall in Tampa, FL.

Appearance: Hazy yellow-gold. Big bubbles. Bright white head drops readily. Actually looks more like a Belgian wit than a Bavarian hefeweizen.

Smell: Sulphur. Yeast. Mild citrus-like fruitiness. Low level basic maltiness.

Taste: Sweet malt that's just a touch wheaty. Lemon. Low level bitterness. It's not at all complex, but very refreshing.

Mouthfeel: Light body. Crisp.

Drinkability: It's not the banana and clove that's usually found, which leaves it fairly unique (not that you can't find hefeweizens that utilize this yeast, but they're not as common). Quite refreshing and tasty. Very drinkable.

6 oz tap pour in a mini pilsner glass. 4.8% ABV, On tap at BJ's in Huntington Beach, CA.

A - The look of this hefe is solid right out of the gate. Hazy golden yellow with a foamy white head with decent retention and lace left over.

S - Harvest Hefe has hints of a classic hefe but doesn't reach the level I had hoped for. It's got the yeast with hints of banana and clove backed up by wheat but nothing impressing about it.

T - The wheat and pale malts step up a bit in the flavor but in turn, push the nice clove and banana yeast esters back to a to-thin level.

M - A lot of wheat comes out giving the body a soft and medium-bodied texture but the flavor still remains thin across the palate.

D - Smooth and easy drinking, Harvest Hefe is on it's way to being a solid hefe but it could use a little work in the flavor department.

Sampled (5oz.) at BJ's Brewhouse in Arcadia, CA
Poured a cloudy straw yellow with a thin white head and no lace.
Smell was of bready malt, bananas, and clove indicative of a Bavarian hefe. Also detected a slightly bitter note I've smelled in American wheats before.
Taste is initially of white bread, yeast, banana and clove. While somewhat sweet, this beer had a disconcerting bitterness lurking underneath.
Feel was light, dry, and refreshing.
A bit of a disappointment. Appearance was promising but it didn't have the full taste of a Bavarian hefeweizen. Seemed like it was made in the Bavarian style but with some American wheat characteristics built in. The bitterness interfered with the classic German hefe taste I love.

Served on tap on the Corona, CA location.

A: Rich gold in color with impressive haze. The brew has less than a one finger, mousy head.

S: Sweet and subtle with hints of citrus and spices.

T: An explosion of flavor, atleast for a hefe. Nicely balanced and loaded with spicey citrus, banana, and clove.

M: Carbonation was everything I would expect in a good hefe.

D: Very drinkable and enjoyable, though it is a little filling.

A nicely made hefe and great for the cost. I had always thought the alcohol content would be much higher, it always seems like a few of these would take me over the top.

Cheers!

Pours a hazy, bright yellow body, with a light, fluffy white head. Some banana, clove, yeast and citrus in the nose. The taste was ok. Some banana, spice, clove and tartness. Quite refreshing and easy to drink. But all in all, a bit one dimensional. Mouthfeel could be better. An ok hefe.

BJ's Harvest Hefeweizen is a non filtered Hefeweizen. It pours a straw colored cloudy yellow with a decent head. The wheat bill leaves a good lacing on the glass as it's consumed. The nose is heavy on banana notes and ends with a light clove note. The flavor is the same, heavy on the banana flavors. Maybe a bit too much banana on the occasional swallow as it comes offs tasting like a banana popsicle. There is a ending flavor not of cloves but it's a bit understated. This beer has a good mouthfeel for a Hefe and drinks well but I am left wishing for a little more banana / clove balance.

First had: on tap at BJ's, Westminster, CO

Poured a cloudy, pale, golden-yellow with a small cap of white that reduced to a thin layer of random bubbles. Aroma of bready yeast and fruity notes with a dash of spice. Sweet and malty taste, with the typical wheat profile, bready, with some pleasant citrus zest. Not as chewy and banana-y as typical hefeweizen, but still having a nice light spice to it. Light-medium body and moderately drinkable.

Appearance: slightly hazy gold color, with a 1/2" off-white head.

Smell: the aroma was nice as malt, banana, and cloves were strong and easily detectable.

taste: the flavor was weaker than the aroma, as the flavors seemed tame. The malt, banana, and spice were there but needed a slight kick.

Mouthfeel: smooth at the start, but was thin. The finish was smooth with some spice lingering on the tongue.

Drinkability: not a bad drinking brew, just some stronger flavors would make this a nice Hefe.

I've had the harvest hefe off the tap many times but just recently tried it from the bottle. The phenolic charecteristics aren't quite as strong but there still is a mild banana and clove taste. Drinkability improves towards end. Perle hops are evident throughout.
I had it with a pepperoni pizza and it was fantastic. Still a great brew but you're better off getting a pint from the tap. Its about 9 bucks for a 6 pack, and 40 bucks for a mini keg. You'd save alot of money getting a mini keg and drinking this stuff for a couple days. Best hefe i know of for the price.

Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a one finger to a one and a half finger head that gives way to some decent lacing. The aroma is of wheat malt and yeast along with some subtle hints of banana and clove. The taste is of wheat and pale malt with a slight taste of banana and clove. The taste isn't that strong. The mouthfeel is low carbonation and medium bodied. The drinkability is good, it has a nice easy drinkability to it. The taste however, isn't as strong i would have hope for.

I enjoyed a pint of Harvest Hefeweizen at the Columbus (Polaris) BJ's Restaurant and bar.

On the way out of town for the weekend, we decided to stop off for a casual lunch and fuel for the way. Deciding on the Hefe was definately the way to go.

It's a fantastic little Hefe with a remarkable balance of bananna and clove flavor and aroma. The wheat and pilsner malts come together with a firm bready, malty base with some viscous textures that are evident in both the mouthfeel and appearance. Wishing the beer held onto it's foamstand better, the head comes to the table level with the glass but falls to a trace at about mid-session. Otherwise very hazy underneath the golden-straw color. Decorated with light phenolic pepper and spice notes the beer is obviously ester driven. The banannas are backed up by apples, pears, peaches. A bubblegum confection flavor and aroma adds to the complexity in the absence of hop character. At times the beer was a bit sweet and heavy for my lunchtime palate but was pleasant and creamy nonetheless.

I'll happily take another please!
