Drank this beer on nitro-tap at BJ's Restaurant & Brewery in Temple, Texas on New Year's Eve. Very good pour and quickly served to me by the waiter (did not sit too long).
Appearance - Very nice 1-2 finger head that did not subside. Opaque; dark brown porter; head remained in place throughout my time drinking the beer. Very nice looking porter...
Smell - Maple; molasses; sweet, syrupy smell; not overpowering. Very easy to detect the smell. Very excited to take my first sip after taking in this beer's pleasant smell.
Taste - Very enjoyable; can taste molasses, chocolate, roasted, sweet but smooth.
Mouthfeel - Dry, slightly hoppy aftertaste, roasted, dry finish. Comfortable on the palate, though.
Overall - I enjoyed this porter and I recommend it. Very nice, thick head; the taste of molasses and chocolate was delicious; a great roast; a very nice, dry finish. This is one to drink again...

A very good Porter. This one looked great off the nitro tap with a nice fluffy off white head that left great lace on the glass. The smellw was quite roasted with roasted malts and coffee scents abound. The taste was very good with a sweet malt beginning and a slight hop and coffee flavoured bitter finnish. Another winner from B.J's.

My second visit to BJ's. I had enjoyed their beers my first go-round, and liked this one quite a bit also. It was a very dark brown with a medium head that retained well. A sweet chocolate aroma, a little coffee. Ditto on the taste, but there was some malt also apparent in the taste. It almost tasted a little nut-like. Very comfortable and drinkable.
I plan to keep working my way through BJ's beers on my next trip to Houston.

Mild brown appearance, slight beige head to it about 1" in range, good retention. Aroma was faint, really just smelled like a beer from afar, slight whiff of roasted black malt.
Taste, smooth, but a tradeoff as the roasty or chocolate notes aren't all that easy to pick out. No bitterness though, that's for sure. Left with the impression of a thin body, although its probably just the tradeoff of using nitro.
A decent porter, could see ordering one of these when you order the hot wings.

This arrived as a mostly black version of brown, with a nice looking head. It's leaving a great lace.
The smell was weak at best, showing just a touch of coffee and malt. The taste was definitely affected by the nitrogen, but not completely taken over. There's a pinch of chocolate in the taste too.
The mouthfeel and drinkability both rate fairly well, with smoothness being high overall.

dumped out off nitro. black and thick, no head. faint aroma of dark malts, light coffee...hoorah. even though this was a nitro pull it seemed a bit thin, watery even. taste wise its a bit sweet, some chocolate and dark malt is there, finishes with a slightly off twang. liked it the first time, wasnt to excited the second time. maybe a third visit will sum things up better.

A- Dark, deep brown with an almost nitro creamy brown head
S- Metallic iron? Not much else... maybe a little sweet malts
T- Malty chocolate, caramel, sweet. Such a muted taste a clean finish
M- Best part of the beer by far. Creamy full-bodied beer
D- Goes down easy wtih the mouthfeel but nothing stands out other than that but nothing offensive in there either

SO lets start with saying I am not a huge porter fan...
We got the sampler at the Stockton Bj's and we were really excited for the brown...turns out we ordered the pitcher of the Porter after the sampler....
Pours thick and heavy with Med to large head.
Taste has some Cocoa and liquoraous.
smooth through the aftertaste.
Loved it and will be back for more....

6 oz tap pour in a mini pilsner glass. 6.4% ABV, On tap at BJ's in Huntington Beach, CA.
A - It's pour is dark like the early reaches of the night and clear brown with a tan head topping it. Super-thick lace and foam are left to the last drop.
S - Unfortunately the nose of the P.M. Porter is a little low. The toasted brown malts and dusty cocoa aroma has a solid maltiness that could have been a winner if it weren't so stinkin' faint.
T - The flavor thankfully picks it up a little bit. Toasty amber malts with caramel and light coffee on the finish give this porter a nice flavor profile.
M - In typical porter style, P.M. has a medium body with a dry roasted finish.
D - The coffee flavor helps this otherwise slight-above-average porter out a bit. The nose could use some bringing out but otherwise it's a valiant effort.

When I went to the BJ's closest to home last night, I immediately checked to see what was on cask. The waitress immediately told me they had their Piranha Pale Ale so I ordered one. What she brought looked nothing like the Piranha and she proceeded to tell me they opened a new cask the night before and it was the PM Porter. Did I want it? Sure, I said.
My friends were all asking "what is that?" and making comparisons to motor oil. Well, PM Porter is definitely not motor oil, although the deep ruby color comes out only when held up to light. Otherwise, it has an inky blackness with a creamy mocha head that lasted to the bottom of the glass. The smell was of chocolate malt and coffee notes with a pleasant aroma of dark fruits wafting up. The taste was initially quite sweet, of plums and prunes before a more bittersweet flavor asserted itself, that of baker's chocolate, dark roasted coffee, and roasted malts. The finish was modestly hopped and lightly bittered. The feel was medium-bodied, creamy, and smooth though lacking that of the nitro-tapped version.
Overall, the PM Porter is one of my favorites from the BJ's line-up and one I ordered again.

Brown body, with ruby highlights and a lasting tan head. Some roasted chocolate and coffee in the nose. Also some sweet malt. Taste was ok, but nothing outstanding. Real thin mouthfeel that leaves you wanting more. A tad watery IMO. Finishes dry and a tad astringent. I'd pass on this the next time.

Nitro tap at the Palmdale location
Look: Almost black and totally opaque with a brown ring on the bottom of the glass with a 1/2 inch tan head and exceptional retention and some spotty lacing
Smell: Coffee notes upfront with hints of chocolate but the nose is fairly muted
Taste: Roasted malts with hints of ash coffee and chocolate. Not very complex
Mouthfeel: Creamy butteriness from the nitro with a medium body and low carbonation
Overall: Good beer and goes great with BJ's pizza

First had: on tap at BJ's, Westminster, CO
Poured a dark brown with a generous puff of tan head that receded after a moment, leaving some thick lacing as it went. A bit light in the aroma; roasty malts, and notes of cocoa. Nice flavors of dark roasty malts, cocoa, and a touch of coffee. No hops to speak of, as would be imagined. Medium-bodied, finished dry, with a little coffee bitterness. Overall, nicely drinkable.

Appearance: deep brown / black color with a thin head. No lacing develops. Carbonation levels were low.
Smell: there was no discernable aroma.
Taste: the flavor was of roasted malts, mild bitterness and some weak chocolate.
Mouthfeel: very thin. The start was smooth and creamy, and finish was short with some mild roastiness.
Drinkability: not a bad drinking brew, but again flavor is a little weak as with most BJ brews.
