First time I had this, I thought it might be a saving grace from the usually mundane taplist at BJs. Poured a little darker than you would hope for, but its not like its the first nor last time you're gonna see an amber, almost bordering on light brown ipa. Head popped to about 1/2" but was woeful in the head retention department. The aroma may not have had a single hop cone/pellet used in dry hopping. Ok, so this maybe is one of those high ibu high crystal malt ipas. Joy. Anyways, commercial tug job about intense hop aroma was not accurate.

Taste, it wasn't terrible. But when you call your beer HopStorm, perhaps, you create the expectation of a storm of hops, or a plethora of hops, or like, a decent amount of hops. Here, it appears they merely bring a variety of hops, but not necessarily pushing much weight. I'd guess 3 of these are C hops, and the others are probably some weird negligible hops like Glacier, Horizon and Aramis (who knows but you get the idea). Here we have some definite bittering hops, but the flavor and mouth feel is largely a flabby weight malty ipa that straddles the English and American fence. Its like an ipa best served out of your grandmother's caramel and toffee candy dish.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a golden-orange color with a one finger head of just off white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a mix of caramel and citrus fruit sweetness with some moderate hop aromas of pine and herb. Along with these smells comes a little bit of grapefruit as well as some breadiness.

Taste – The taste begins with a very bready and malty flavor with some sweeter tangerine and caramel tastes. There is some grapefruit and herbal hop upfront with the later getting a bit stronger as the taste moves forward. Toward the end the maltiness increases even more as the hop and sweet seem to decrease a bit, leaving one with a rather malty and moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average to slightly thicker with a carbonation level that is average to lower.

Overall – Nothing all that fantastic here. Quite malty and somewhat lacking in the hop department for an IPA. Just OK.

Poured from a draft into pint glass in December 29, 2018.

Appearance: Golden with light tan head. Head is very thick and there is good lacing.

Smell: Strong aroma of hops, pine, and citrus, as well as some malty sweetness. Overall the hops aroma dominate the others.

Taste: Interesting taste. There is a typical hops and citrus flavor but with alot of sweetness flavors as well. This is more sweet than standard IPAs. Overall a nice balance and very drinkable.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied.

This is an interesting IPA. It has a nice mix of grapefruit, hops, and other flavors, which makes it interesting. I like the overall balance, and that the hops do not dominate the flavor. I like their Piranha Pale Ale better, but both are good.
