A: The pour is a fairly dark amber color with a fluffy off white head.

S: The nose has a definite and misplaced acidity to it--likely from the roasted/toasted grains in the beer. A slight olive aroma along with a nice nuttiness.

T: The flavor is somehow free of most of the faults exhibited in the nose. There is a nice sweet malt and toffee flavor, along with a subtle nutty character.

M: The body is medium and smooth with a creamy carbonation.

D: The flavors and mouthfeel of the beer were nice, but the aromas were rather off-putting.

Serving type: on-tap

My specific sample was brewed with the addition of Goldings hops and served on cask. On to the beer:

The beer is dark hazy brown with a head that holds well and leaves globs of lacing on the glass. The addition of hops gives this brown ale a fruitier taste. A pinch of hops kicks the back of the tongue. The maltiness of the brown ale was subdued underneath the hops. At first, I was weirded out because I thought I was drinking a different style of beer; I wanted more maltiness. But for what this batch was meant to be, it's not bad. It's quaffable, though the hops might get tiring for me.
