Beer is usually made from four simple ingredients; water, malt, hops, and yeast. With the high acclaim of Fiji brand water, you would think that a brewer from Fiji would take advantage of this water. Vonu comes in a 330 ml dark bottle (no limes here!) with a turtle swimming on the label. On to the beer:
Darker than most pale lagers, as in fact this looks halfway between a pale and amber lager. Not much head forms on top, though its lacing has decent froth. The aroma is stronger and more pleasant than the standard national lager, as its hoppiness is noticeable, a sweet honey note, and a vague metallic note as well.
This is not some watered down tropical lager for the tourists. Vonu is more flavorful than I was expecting with a unique fruity flavor that works with a decent dry and sweet malt base and a moderate hop bitterness towards the end. Closer to being a medium bodied lager with carbonation that is a little fizzy.
It has to be more than just the water which makes Vonu a step up from the usual national lager. Easily one of the better ones I've had, for what it's worth.

Okay so this beer is rated as poor but ome on, it is nowhere near being that bad! It is actually a craft lager and quite smooth, not bad at all! Smells okay, although has a bit gas-y yeast tone to it but the taste is absolutely alright - perhaps on the slightly sweet side. The aftertaste is a bit behind the expectations, for turning a bit sour but otherwise I found this beer absolutely acceptable, a good companion for a summer night.

Bottle thanks to Jeremy. More country ticking. Hazy pale golden pour with small white head. Not horrible, but exceedingly bland, Grainy, and musty, paper

Just bland. Minimal taste. A beer that would be enjoyed by someone who doesn't like beer.

Pale gold pour with a decent white head. Malty, grainy aroma, typical for the style. Taste is sweet malt, slightly watery but better than a lot of the other lagers out there. Refreshing and very drinkable.

Another adjunct lager... Nothing to add really.

Bottle: a light brown 330mL bottle with a basic transluscent macro label.
Appearance: pours out a clear gold with the usual chunky lager carbonation. A small white head bubbles away quickly to a thin ring. No lacing either.
Aroma: the typical lager aromas of grains. Nothing particularly special about it.
Taste: again pretty standard lager stuff. Nothing special, despite the 'pure Fijian rain water'.
Aftertaste: drops away quickly, per the style. No additional crispness or cleanness from the water.
Mouth feel: very light in body with a moderate carbonation. Could use a touch more to carry a bit more flavour.
Overall: an average lager dressed in the fake tinsel of 'pure', 'tropical' and 'boutique'. There is nothing special about this beer, except for the super-special price of AU$70 a case. What a joke. Avoid this one.

Pours a hazy gold with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and sugary sweet aromas. Taste is much the same with malt and slight fruity flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is drinkable but nothing all that exciting in my opinion.
