An artisan-al beer from the Basque region of France. Pours a very dark orange with reddish highlights and a thin white head. Fruity aroma with raspberry and bread; almost no hop aroma.
Taste is almost like a wheat beer with fruit; very slightly tart, more of the red-fruit flavors and a slightly yeasty sour finish.
Nice mouthfeel but can't say if it is correct for style. Pleasing aftertaste of the spice and fruit that came out in the aroma.
Overall a very nice beer that goes well with food. Tasted this in Paris at a Basque restaurant so obviously, the perfect choice for a dinner pairing.

Oldarki: a beer from the Basque Country?! This was poured in the brewery's trademark pilsner glass at Le Dernier Métro, a beer bar in Paris that serves not one, but TWO Basque beers and Delirium brews on tap!
The appearance is orange-amber with tons of carbonation. However, it retains a small head the entire time. Definitely looks filtered, but it's presentable and delectable looking enough.
The smell, no doubt aided by the patxaran liqueur (a combination of sloe berries, coffee beans, and vanilla pods) is ambivalently sweet and acidic. Very fruity, though, and at times it resembles a combination of açaï and blueberries. Spiciness tingles the nostrils. An ambrée, yeasty tinge with something new. Again, I will be blaming the patxaran blend for anything that comes off as different with this beer.
Contains an extremely yeasty flavor with a sweet, acidic finish that makes it unlike most beers I've ever had. The patxaran really creates an interesting drinking experience here. Without it, it would taste like many run-of-the-mill ambrées that are all over France. There is a honey-tinged, malty finish as well. Despite thinness around the edges, the carbonation makes it fun to drink and it's proven to be a successful beer to have on warm and cold days in Paris. Worth a try!
