Food is always rock solid, with a small but jammin menu. Music matches the walls which is old punk. Bar has never let me down but I am usually there with family so nothing to exotic. All and all a good chill spot to unwind

Great neighborhood spot with a small (15 taps) selection of beer, but a nice rounded selection. The burgers and house cut fries are always delicious. They did a nice job with the interior. A lot of cool rock n roll memorabilia, plus a wall covered in old black n white band flyers, local and national.

This place is great, they usually have a few solid beers on tap and frequently get seasonal's from Karbach like Karboctoberfest and Krunkin Punkin and other great breweries in the area.
I havnt had anything I didnt like there yet. The muscles are great, as well as the el chito burger and the beef dip. The big challenge is trying something new after you loved your last meal so much.
I highly recommend it to any friends. Especially for lunch since the Petrol station isnt open then... Though its a little expensive to hit for lunch on a regular basis.

We recently moved to Houston, and have been looking for a great beer pub for a while. Some have great beer, but no "real" food (pretzels and nachos don't really count in my book), and others have great food, but a lackluster beer list.
My husband found this place on accident and insisted we both go back the following night. I'm glad we did.
The food is FABULOUS with a lot of attention to the quality of the ingredients and how it is presented, and the beer selection is up to a self-professed "beer snob"s standards. We shared a veggie burger (no frozen patties here) and a seared tuna salad with pistachios. Both were fresh, and didn't take eons to be served, which both get high marks for a pub.
Appox 1/3 of the beers are Texas microbrews, with a good variety of styles to choose from. Since I'm an amber/abby ale fan and my hubby is an IPA guy, it's often difficult to find a place that offers a good selection for us both. They even have the extremely hard to find "No Label" brews on occasion, as well as a rotation of Houston's newest microbrewery: Karbach.
The outside of the establishment is deceptive... it is at the end of a small strip mall, and there is nothing overtly inviting about it. The inside more than makes up for it, though, with it's deep red walls, well defined cozy spaces (lots of 2-4 person booths with high backs), high ceilings, and a good ratio of bar stools, considering its relatively small size. Rumor has it, the place used to be a wine bar, and I can see that past reflected in the current decorum. I like a place where the focus is on the beer and conversation, not the TV, or the "nightly event." (bingo night?! I think not.) If you enjoy the same thing, this place is worth checking out!

This is a new beer bar that opened up on Shepard just outside the North 610 Loop. It is the newest place to open from the Delicious Concepts group. A fairly small and cramped spot in a little shopping center. An L shaped bar that seats about 15, booths line the wall and continue past the bar. A handful of TV's turned to sports with some music. Is that Captain Beefheart playing, awesome. Interesting decor, and hard for me to describe. Ultra funky and really relaxed.
The service is certainly friendly, and the owners/managers are well informed. They are anxious to build a core clientele. The bartenders seem a bit unorganized and confused at times. Slow getting me change, beers, and odd handovers when new staff is coming in for the day. Though hopefully that will work itself out with more time. Did not try the food, mostly pub grub but looks well made. Can't wait to try some next time.
There are about 13 taps. Few rotate, but a nice selection of locals and other national micros. Two each for Karback and Saint Arnold. Real Ale Firemans, No Label, Southern Star, some Brooklyn, Bear Republic. Just a few macros. Certainly a good and worthy tap list. A good selection, not great, but can't complain about some good local beers.
Overall, a place I enjoy and will visit again. I think the service can improve a bit, but they are just getting started. So hopefully the minor kinks will work themselves out. A Good local spot.
Edit:
I have visited several time over the last several months. The service is much better, and I have tired the food. In short, great pub grub. Korean short rib tacos, awesome. Kobe beef Shepard pie, oh ya, gigantic burgers, wow, the best beef dip I have had south of Chicago, hell ya. Not the place to find the newest and crazy releases. Though a great place to grab some local beers and great food. A place I am enjoying more and more every time I visit.
