Best Before: Oct/09.

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, yellow body and despite a continually heavier pour, I just can't coax more than a few bubbles to form an ultra thin, white head. Ah well.

Smell: What a stink! Extraordinarily skunky aroma that strikes your nose mere seconds after the bottle is opened. If you don't mind a big snootful of skunk with each whiff, you can barely make out faint hints of cereal-scented malts.

Taste: Gah! Oh, how horrid. Some pale malts with a cereal sweetness and very minor hop character and bitterness, but mostly you're treated to a whole host of icky tastes. Plasticy, skunk spray, and metallic! Three disastrous tastes together at last. A couple glasses of cool, clean water only begin to wash that out.

Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: As much as I usually appreciate it's inclusion on the bottle or label, the Best Before date serves no purpose whatsoever here, as this beer died an ignoble death long, long before October 2009. Sure, the year is still young, but this is, by far, the worst beer I've had all year! Avoid at all cost.

Purchased at the LCBO as a single. 330ml bottle served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well. Pours a nice white head that stays for a while. Color is exactly what you see in the clear bottle

S- Pretty good. almost sorghum smelling.

T- Very good. Light yet flavorful. Definite lager bodied goodness.

M- Dry and slightly sweet aftertaste

O- Very good. I always buy Carib when in the Caribbean. Refreshing and full bodied for a lager

Food Pairing

This nice light beer goes well cutting through... Curried Goat. The heat of the curry can still be cut through by this wonderful little lager.

Enjoy

Has some aroma, kinda like sweet corn? Yeah, boil some sweet corn, add a little hops and you have it. Sweetness at first then goes hoppy---but a very weak taste. Head disappears after poured, very yellow color. Looks like any clear-bottled tropical beer. Didn't give me "bitter beer face", but just barely better than the cheapest domestics.

Pale golden pour, poor half finger head, fast to a not so sticky lace.
Smells nice, tho weak, some lightly toasted grain, faint honey-like sweet malts, faint floral hops.
Taste isn't bad. Has that adjunct lager corn, but it isn't too sweet and sticky, but cooked, like polenta. So, toasted grains also. Vegetable stew feel, light citrus, faint honey. A bit of earthy hop presence in the finish, mild bitterness.
Light body, medium carbonation. A tiny bit of unwanted sweetness gets through to the aftertaste, but it isn't horrible.
A really nice adjunct, nice surprise.

I like this one. Has a grainy tone to it and a thick malty sweet edge. Consistent profile with a nice profile. I like it. Easy to drink. Certainly better than a lot of the BMC stuff we're stuck with in the States. I'd go for it again, if my choices were limited.
