Eight Legged RyePA is an American styled IPA but we replaced much of the crystal malts with 30% rye malt. This lightens the overall appearance and body while giving a touch of rye spice to the finish. Packed with hops you will immediately notice the grapefruit, citrus aromas and flavors.

First introduction to Spider Bite, this beer was amazing. Crisp and spicy wirh that nice peppery note indicative of thr ryePA style. Compared to others produced by larger, more established breweries, this brew holds its own. Just wish they would produce some more of it. Its been awhile since Ive been able to obtain it.

Pours hazy gold color with a small white foamy head that faded on the fast side and left decent lacing. Smells of floral hops, soft pine cone, herbs, light caramel, grains and rye; herbal and spicy, soft for an IPA as it's often labeled but nice for a rye beer. Tastes of grapefruit, lemon, citrus hops, floral hops, mild piney hops, herbs, caramel, brown sugar, sweet malt, honey, grains, rye and mild spices like pepper and coriander; like the nose, it's herbal and spicy, but the hops come out more and make for a nice balanced brew with a nice hint of rye. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, with light zesty carbonation, a light battery and a slightly bitter finish that has crisp citrus and herbal notes. Overall a very nice light IPA that's highly drinkable, clean and refreshing. BA lists this as a rye beer, so above average in that category.

Served on-tap at Draught 55 in New York, NY
A: Pours a hazy apricot heading to orange in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some peach highlights. The beer has a finger tall creamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thick film surrounded by a thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts with moderate aromas of rye spiciness. There are slightly heavier than moderate amounts of hop aromas present - citrus/grapefruit and pine stand out.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of caramel malts with a moderate to strong amount of spicy rye flavors as well. There are moderate to strong flavors of hops towards the finish - citrus/grapefruit and pine stand out. Light to moderate amounts of bitterness which linger for a while.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: A very nice rye IPA - lots of nice rye spiciness present in the nose and the taste of this beer. Easy to drink and enjoyable (also tastes super fresh). I would definitely grab this one again if I came across it.

$8.95 for a 64oz growler from New Beer. Put back that $12 bomber of barrel aged baloney kiddo.
Dirty yellow garnet body. Thin, frothy, lasting, white lace.
Smells of Juicy Fruit gum & grass. Mild pine, bigger citrus rind. Bit of butter.
Taste is heavy on yellow grapefruit juice, bittersweet, never getting too acidic. Toasty/textured malt middle. Muted pepper. Lingering rind. Not totally crazy about hoppy rye beers.
Moderate body, mellow carbonation. Well integrated alcohol. Demi sec.
I would of enjoyed a bigger amount of rye, but I guess I'll just have to wait & see if Paul ever reproduces his smoked roggen to get my fix. :)
