I'm surprised that this brew has not been reviewed so far, so I'm guessing it may be a limited edition. 12 oz bottle, unfiltered, unpasteurized. Pours out to a clear straw golden with flocculent sediment which quickly recedes to the edge and bottom of the goblet, forming a large soapy bone-white head with a peaking meringue-like top. Superior retention and wonderful cloudy, wispy cotton lumps of lacing. Absolutely wonderful looking brew! Carbonation is medium-strong consistent with the style. The aroma is quite odd for a pilsner, but interesting...distinct cloves and kiwi fruit, with a touch of peppery alcohol and grain husk. No freshly mown hay or Saaz aroma as would be expected. The mouthfeel is flittering and beats upon the tongue with a medium body. Taste begins with green kiwi and cloves, followed by a lightly floral hop flavor, but quickly replaced by a distinct metal note in the middle and mild grain husk. Hay is very light and hardly noticeable except with the utmost concentration. The bitterness is floral and reminds me of Saaz in some ways, but the metal note remains and overpowers any hop flavor. The finish is all about metal and green kiwi fruit. Alcohol is lightly peppery.

Far from any semblance of a pilsner, but an interesting beer on it's own accord. The yeast strain these guys use isn't amenable to the bottle or the styles of beer they make, especially for a lager-specific brewery, and all their beers have been tainted by kiwi flavor, exactly like Great Divide BC. Lots of work to do in the quality control department, but it's still a decent beer.

Unfiltered draft sampler at Kraftbrau. My first trip here has me finally tearing myself away from Bell’s across the street. This is light and yellow, just a little bit hazy. Sips very nice and cleanly. The hop character is actually fruity at the start, then settles down into a good German style. Very well done.
