A long narrow bar with a coffee shop and full restaurant. When you walk in bar is to you right with booth and tables left and center kitchen is in the rear. They have around 30 taps that i counted, with some very nice offerings , they have outdoor seating in the summer it is in the shade between the buildings, also have a garage door that opens. Food is very good and service is also good selection of taps is very good. Food & Beverage is however on the pricey side , other than that if you like nice taps and great food in a laid back setting you will like this place .

The place offers 30 taps featuring local, regional and national craft beer. They also have an extensive selection of bottled beer. The menu offers plates to share, sandwiches and dogs, large plates and salads all of which go very well with beer. Order the Lamb Burger and a beer.

Atmosphere is pretty laid back and inviting. There's a coffee bar to the left and the main bar to the right. I thought the place was great as it wasn't too snobby and wasn't a dive either. It's just a nice place where people treat you with respect. I always try to sit at the bar and I did both times I've been there. Service was really good on a semi-busy day and was great at a Surly tap take over considering how crazy packed the place was. The selection is semi-good as they have roughly 20 taps (from my recollection). They had some great beers and some that were just OK but nothing really crappy on tap. Basically they have a decent beer selection. I really loved the food I got there. They had an amazing BBQ sandwich with coleslaw on top that was really good. They are a semi-gastro pub and I think they do an OK job at it. The beer and the food are pretty darn good. The taps are pretty reasonable and for the quality of food I got I thought the price tag was reasonable. Great place and will definitely hit the place when I'm in the neighborhood.

If I lived in Minneapolis, this is where I’d be. It has a great attitude. There is a coffee bar on the left, open in the morning to the late evening, and a beer bar on the right, open in the afternoon to late night. We went here in between the ceremony and reception of a wedding. I can’t imagine a better place to have stopped. Unpretentious attitude but a great beer list. Really nice staff. Awesome food. Power outlets. GO HERE.

I like Muddy Waters, the beer list is ok but the food is a little pricy and TOO Gastro for me.

I get they want to be a Gastro Beer Bar, but having a couple of solid staples done more traditionally would be great.

Good service and good staff make it a great place for a decent beer.

I would suggest living the beer menu, by that I like to read the beer list and judge the style, verse asking the beer tenders all the time.

It only takes a commitment to that.

I appreciate the beer tenders know the beers or have been spoken to about the beers, I HATE when asked "What kind of beer do you drink?"

Really, I'm in a fucking craft beer bar (Supposedly) I may not remember all the beer names, but I know types and styles and what I may want at that particular moment.

List the Beer Name, the brewery, the style, the ABV, serving size and if you can notes or pairing notes.

Muddy Waters has been a go to spot for craft beer in the Twin Cities for a long time now. They were pouring craft beer when very few places were, and I have to give them credit for that. There tap selection is as good as it ever was, and they have frequent tap take overs that always seem to involve highly sought after beers.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting. There is a lot of dark wood and dark colors, but the room doesn't feel dark. The place is clean, but doesn't feel sterile. It feels cozy. The service has always been prompt, and knowledgeable.

There were some things I loved about this place and there were other things that really annoyed me. Atmosphere is cute, neighborhood pub. The music was way too loud though and very annoying. We waited for quite a while for our food and then were brought the wrong order and then we waited and waited for the correct order to arrive. So that was annoying. Beer selection was a strong 4.0 but the menu was a brunch and very limited. After waiting for so long for our order much of it was cold so that was annoying. The food was good though even cold. Would I go back, maybe.

Stopped while in the neighborhood and was rewarded with a decent selection of local beer which was exactly what I wanted.

30 taps about 75% local, the rest decent domestic and a few Belgians. No sour or wild ales which was disappointing but somewhat common.

Service was great; tasters were offered even without asking and ambiance is nice for a restaurant/bar. Perfect for my tasting of many Surleys and a couple of Steel Toe, among others.

Probably not a destination kind of place but I'd definitely return.

One sentence review: I enjoyed the beer - the food was so-so.

The atmosphere and crowd leans trendy, hip, avant garde, etc. Different but also quite enjoyable. Beer quality was topnotch - clean glassware and fresh beer. I had a Furious and Two Hearted from tap. Hard to beat that on a warm June night. Service was prompt and friendly although our waitress knew almost nothing about beer. To her credit she did ask the bartender to answer our questions. Selection was very good. I guess my disappointment was the food - previous reviews had me expecting something special and it was nothing more than palatable bar food. I had the Bender Braised Pot Roast, which was overcooked and dry. Still a fun place with good beer.

I will reiterate most of what jignrig had to say about the place...in fact, I've been there with him several times as well.

The atmosphere is great, small but not overly cramped. Service has been very good. Music is always spinning from a local DJ.

Awesome food with a varied menu, lots of things to choose from. Small plates all the way up to a full dinner. Everything is priced where it should be. Overall i thought there food was fabulous, the surly bender braised pork sliders and the gnocchi dish is what i remember most.

Tap list is fabulous, they have nearly every surly brew offered on tap and a lot of other top-notch taps.

This is a gastropub where you don't go there hoping that either the food or the tap list shines; it's both. One of the better brewpubs in the TC that i've been to in a long time.

Wow, do I love this place. I moved just down the street almost a year ago and I always have to stop in here for a drink if I am ever going out.

There selection is excellent for beer, with there tap list constantly changing. I'm not going to lie there have been numerous times that I have wanted to try something on their tap menu, but unfortunately were already tapped out. More of just a personal disappointment and not a bad thing on their part at all.

The service is excellent, my favorite bartender Billy that works there knows his beer. I love ordering a beer from a bartender that has a passion for beer just as much as I do.

Food is excellent, just on the pricey side. I've never ordered anything that I didn't regret paying the listed price for, but it does make it so I only get food for myself when I feel like treating myself.

This place is a mixed bag for me. The food is a high point, particularly their weekend brunch items. The beer is very fresh, and served in proper glasswear. The selection is solid, with beers from Surly, Ommegang, Tallgrass, Bell's Founders, several locals, and a couple Belgians. There are a couple downsides though. First. the music is quite loud, and the tables are very close together so it can be unbearably loud when busy. Also, the service, though knowledgable and friendly, can be painfully slow. All in all a good place for food and a beer, but slow and loud.

We first went to Muddy Waters about three months ago and have probably been back ten times since then. The food is excellent, varied, and reasonably priced (e.g. two gourmet hot dogs for $6). My favorite dish is pot roast that has been braised with Surly Bender.

Beer selection is very nice as well with some serious craft brews on tap that seem to rotate at a reasonable interval. The staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to give samples.

The service is exceptional and they seem to know that lost art of conversation--I have yet to get bad service there.

My only small complaint would be the atmosphere as the music can sometimes be a bit noisy.

I highly recommend Muddy Waters if you are looking for a great gastropub.
