Bottle shared by Justin at Curran's tasting. Thanks man, happy to try this brewery for the 1st time.

This one was a real gusher. Pours a nearly opaque golden orange, with a small bubbly, fizzy head.

Smells like lemon, orange, hay, champaqne, and brett.

Tastes similar. Lots of bretty complexities, with some hay, lemon, chalk, sweet tarts, grass, oak, white grapes, and orange. Lots of great flavors here, great way to start out a tasting.

Light bodied, crisp, light, smooth, dry and tart mouthfeel. Very drinkable.

A good one, I'm glad I was able to try this one.

First had: bottle from the source. (Bottle 30/270)

Be careful with this one...it wasn't a gusher, but it fizzed up about an inch and half within the bottle when I opened it.

Poured into a #properglassware F&M Moeder Seizoen stem glass (finally a glass suitable for this brewery!). Opaque golden-orange pour, with a small cap of bubbly white head that receded to a wispy but lasting layer, and coated the glass with lacing. Fine, Champagne-like carbonation rising from the bottom. Lots of classic saison funk in the aroma, wet grass, hay, overripe fruits, white and red grapes. First sip brought in a wave of grassiness and herbal hop bitterness, but this soon mellowed out to a lighter, fruitier sensation, notes of white grape, pear, touch of strawberry--mildly tart--with a pretty big barrel profile coming in, spicy/fruity brett, finishing off sweet with a stiff (but not at all hot) kick of white and red wine. Medium body, lively, crisp mouthfeel, refreshing. Beautiful beer! Reminds me a little bit of HandFarm (though I might like this one a tiny bit better!).

750ml bottle, #203 of 270, poured into a Forest & Main stemmed flute, thanks to Rifugium for both the bottle and the beer!

The beer pours a cloudy apricot color, touches of copper and straw, a bit murky but with some noticeable bubbles rising to the top of the glass. A foamy white head appears, about a finger or so high, that has great retention and leaves behind a wonderful amount of soapy lace. The aroma is very funky, lots of brett, earthy, dirty and musty with some nice oak, white grapes, a nice floral bouquet with some ripe pear with some old oak. The funk almost reminds me of that of a gueuze at times, although its not sour or tart, just impressively funky. The flavors are in line, lots of bretty funk, sharp white wine character, musty oak, ripe white fruits, apple, pear and grape, with some soft pale grain at the finish. The mouthfeel is nice, a bit dry, but its lively and crisp, but coats well and finishes smoothly.

Verdict: A very nice Barrel Aged Saison from Forest & Main. It's a bit earthier and mustier than I prefer, but it's complex and balanced fairly well. The wine character is nice, but overly dominate, making for a refined but palatable beer. Cheers to Forest & Main! Side note: Like Rif mentioned below, this didn't gush, but a nice amount of foam slowly came up the bottle to say hello.
