Pours a clear medium orange, thin soapy white head fades quickly. A few dots of lace on the glass. Smell: nectarine, soft pear, spicy, mildly grainy, sweet. Taste: sugary, boozy. Too much of each. Peach, pear, clove, vanilla, pepper, herbal note. Baby brett-ish. Nicely carbonated but an overly sticky, sugary finish. All of the flavors are fine, but they don't stand out with the (since it's SweetWater I assume this is on purpose) "amped up" sweetness. Not too far off from being worthwhile... I mean if the hopping and time with brett were also dialed up and it was labeled a double brett ipa then we have a different outcome.

22oz bottle from Sherlock's (Marietta, GA). 6.49. Bottled 02/2014. Served in a Sweetwater snifter.

Pours a clear, brilliant golden yellow with about a finger and a half of white head that quickly settles to a thin cap. At any point a quick swirl brings a haze back to the surface but it leaves almost no lace.

Smells of lemongrass, coriander, slight citrus, hay and a mild yeasty funk.

No surprise flavors here. Coriander, wet hay, lemon zest, grass and sharply funky yeast. The alcohol is pretty well hidden in there. Tastes fairly dry but there is a notable malt sweetness to it.

The body is on the heavier side of medium with an effervescent, lively carbonation. Finish is bitter and yeasty with more coriander, grass and citrus zest.

An interesting direction for an anniversary ale from a brewery that is regionally known for generous hopping. Slightly heavier than most of the saisons that I've had. I'm far from an expert or connoisseur of the style but this seems to fit in pretty well without really pushing the envelope. Not bad at all. I may just set one or two aside to see what happens. Happy 17 years Sweetwater!
