Appearance: 3.25: Nice 1/4" CO2 head quickly faded leaving swirls on top. Color is very attractive, a deep, opaque golden. I actually notice some particulate matter in here, which is a good thing!
Smell 4.0: Very nice, "snappy" bouquet. High in the nose, it accentuates the citrus hop aromas and is certainly not overpowering, but is, nonetheless, big and inviting.
Taste 4.0: Front is slightly sweet and the alkaline hops first hit you in this tasting zone. Middle is dry, but malty and very pleasant: big citrusy, grapefruit-rind tastes abound. Finish features another very nice malt/hop marriage that is difficult to unravel for the purpose of identifying individual tasting notes. Aftertaste is somewhat short and top of the palate, but features more hoppiness, this time a floral, somewhat clorophyll-tinged flavor. Nice.
Mouthfeel 3.25: A bit too much carbonation for this type of beer. The bubbles almost burn the throat.
Overall 4.0: Great IPA. Excellent balance of malt and hops. Also, the hops that were selected for this beer are an excellent and complementary blend. The label says it was dry-hopped, which no-doubt added to the excellent bouquet. This is definitely an IPA that IPA lovers should try. It may not appeal to non hop-heads due to its level of carbonation, but they should give it a shot, too.
