On-tap at Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta.
Clear, golden yellow-orange in color with a dense white head. Good head retention. Lots of lacing.
Bitter aroma of citrus and grapefruit.
High bitterness upfront with flavors of citrus, pine, and lots of grapefruit. Finish is slightly sweeter. Some caramel malt. Lingering bitterness.
Light to medium body. Kind of creamy and thick at the finish.
Bursting with grapefruit bitterness. A solid IPA on the more bitter side.

Received as an extra in recent trade w/ a GA BA.
Poured from 12oz bottle (best by 1/26/12) into imperial pint.
A: Hops come through as a mix of herbal and tropical fruit notes (particularly pineapple). Some honey sweetness underlies.
A: Slightly hazy copper, one-finger off-white head is a bit thinner than expected, but leaves good lacing.
F: Medium-strong, dry bitterness up front. Sweet, woodsy iced tea, and light graham cracker sweetness. Malt is dialed back, and lets the hops stand front & center. Nice bitterness on the finish, which is not overpowering. A bit drier than I would have liked.
M: Medium body and carbonation. Some drying tannins stick around after the finish.
O: A pretty decent, "sessionable" IPA. While it's not something I'd go out of my way to get my hands on, I'd like to try it fresh someday at the brewery. I didn't notice any real flaws, and would recommend you try it for yourself if you have the chance.

Many thanks to ahlthe3rd (Hugh) for the chance to taste this. I have had it on tap in Atlanta before, but never in bottle format. Bottle dated "Best before 3-02-12", so assuming pretty fresh. Poured from bottle into my Victory tulip. Pours a rich and completely transparent orange color- on the darker side for an IPA. Smell- an interesting hop aroma- blood orange, grapefruit. Taste- a blast of bitterness hits the front of my palate. Waves and waves of bitterness without a real malt backbone. I love IPA's and love a hop forward IPA, but this lacks balance. Its wave upon wave of bitterness without anything sweet to counter. Very medium to light bodied, the mouthfeel is light and airy. This IPA would be better if the malt developed some tropical fruit sweetness, but it's still a decent IPA regardless that I would have again.

Appearance: Slightly hazed copper. The color of old pennies. Head is bright-white and smooth. Thins to a small ring at the edges of the glass. Carbonation looks to be on point.
Smell: Orange juice and biscuits. Big orange hop hit. Mainly juice. Doughy malt profile rounds out the back. Faintly spicy with some sweetness. Touch of caramel malt.
Taste: Grapefruit and then some. Orange juice as well. Slight pine hit. Where are the malts. Faint hints of biscuit and crust linger in the back, but fail to offer any balance to the hops. Slightly minty with a lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Pretty thin, but not quite there. Smooth with a touch of dry on the end of the whole thing.
Overall: Decent, but not earth shattering. The bitterness and intense grapefruit/orange flavors drop some of its long-term drinkability. Definitely a unique hop profile.

A: Pours a crystal clear copper color with a frothy white head that fades quickly.
S: Strong citrus hop punch up front with pine notes as well.
T: No surprise on the taste. Hop blast up front with a slight cracker like malt in the end.
O: This is a classic American IPA no doubt about it.
