On tap at the Filling Station here in G-boro.Poured a very light slightly hazed golden with a 1/2 finger white head atop.Aromas are mainly toasty cereal grains with a light smattering of blueberry.Toasted flavors and very light sweetness, the bluberry is light and in the finish.Well I gues if you are lookin for a no brainer with a hint of fruit this would be for you,not me.

A - Poured out a clear, pale golden yellow color with a small, short-lived head of fizzy foam. It left little to no lacing.

S - It smelled of blueberry. Yup, blueberry. Maybe there was wheat there, too.

T - Tasted of blueberry. There were some beer-like flavors, too.

M - It was crisp, sharp and fairly smooth. A light bodied brew with a dry finish.

O - This is what I expected. A Blueberry ale that is mostly blueberry and not particularly interesting.

Poured form a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a light golden honey color with a very thin white head, diminishing quickly to just a very thin ring of bubbles. Zero lacing.

S: Fruity fresh blueberry mingling with light flowery hops. There some malts in there too but they are tough to discern through the blueberries.

T: Dry light malty flavors with an interesting blueberry presence. I'm not sure I would call it 'fruity' but definitely blueberry, with some very mild sweetness from the malt. The blueberry tends to linger after an otherwise clean finish. I don't know that I've ever had a beer anything like this before. Interesting.

M&D: Lighter mouthfeel and weight with very light carbonation. Smooth, goes down easy. At first this seems like a very nice easy drinking brew but by the end of the glass, one was enough for a while. Enjoyable just the same.

Thanks to Maria for picking this up for me in her travels.

I should mention that this one is one month past the "best if enjoyed by" date. It pours a slightly hazy pale yellow color with a shortlived white head. Leaves very little lacing, but lots of tiny bubbles rush to the top of the glass, trying to get my attention. Aroma is tart berry, but only slight blueberry. Some biscuit and earthy yeast are also present, as are some faint citrus and piney hops. Taste is well carbonated, very tart with berry, and has some earthy yeast notes and wheatgrain. This isn't so bad, but is not one of Sweetwater's better offerings. I look forward to visiting my old haunts in Atlanta, this summer when the state of Georgia, hopefully, will allow their microbreweries to turn out some bigger beers. I'm certain that Sweetwater will be one of the leaders of the unchained.

Appearance: clear, gold in color, 1/4 inch head, high carbonation

Smell: dried blueberries

Taste: sweet and tart blueberries

Mouthfeel: medium carbonation, medium-light bodied, sweet but not overly so

Drinkability: A solid fruit beer that I could see myself sessioning. The blueberries have a real not artificial taste. Nothing extraordinary, just a solid fruit beer.

Sweetwater Blue is a crisp and tasty desert beer. Very few places keep this beer on tap, but it is a must after a full round of wings or seafood. The blueberry taste is natural and crisp. Not artificial in any way. Blueberry is an easy fruit to fake, but Sweetwater keeps it real with natural blueberries.

This beer smells and tastes like an orchard of freshly picked berries. I am not a fan of fruit flavored beers, but this one is natural and pure and doesn't taste fake.

Try this if you are looking for a good desert beer that won't send your palette into confusion.

Deep golden hue filtered blueberry ale, not a fan of synthetic fruit beer this is one of those generic golden ales with fake blueberry flavor in the finish. Light speckled head leaves a fine trail of lacing. Aroma has that fruity pebbles blueberry manufactured food additive nose. Flavor is slightly tart with blueberry/citrus notes and even earthy dry grains. Mouthfeel is light bodied meant to be consumed in the warm weather, this beer has probably found it's audience already, sorry I can't do this regularly.

On tap at Canoe at Sweetwater sponsored CRK event.
Slightly hazy deep golden with very little head.
Fine aroma features blueberry: think fine fresh preserves. These is some wheat and barley malt base evident too.
The flavor has good balance, with prominent blueberry but a solid malt base. Only lightly sweet due to a good bit of tartness.
Medium-light body with near medium carbonation.
O: recommended

Pours a darker yellow not yet gold color. Small white head forms.
Aroma has just a hint of the fruit, not overbearing but you know what it is. Taste is good, the blueberry is subtle, and I can get some sweet malt flavor also. Hops are very mild. Sweetwater makes great beer, this one is good. Would be very refreshing on a hot summer day and I could quaff two or three but would need to switch to something heavier. This is the way a beer with fruit should taste.

Got this on tap at Sweetwater Brewery.

Pours a dark yellow color with a one finger head that disappears quickly. Lacing is almost nonexistent.

Smells awesome if you know what you're drinking. Like a fresh blueberry pie.

Tastes almost just like it smells. The blueberry is easily the most prevalent taste, there's a faint malty taste at the end. The blueberry taste isn't too sweet, it's done quite well.

Mouthfeel is pretty thin, but the carbonation is good, it brings out the flavors very well. Could be smoother.

This isn't all that drinkable unless you're in the mood to go blueberry picking later that day. It certainly goes down easy, but the blueberry flavor could get old after a while.

This is a very well done fruit beer. The blueberry is infused very well. Definitely worth a shot if you're into fruit beers, and even if you're not it won't be a bad decision.

This beer is a pale yellow, pretty clear and bright overall with just a light haze. The head is a pillowy pure white one that manages about half a finger and sustains itself moderately well, leaving light patching in similar moderation through the session.
The aroma showcases sweet blueberries very strongly, showing some bread, wheat, and sweeter malts while allowing the blueberry to be the main feature. The smell remains strong all the way through, never fading.
The blueberry shows in the flavor, just not as well as the aroma, and comes out with a little more tartness. It gives off more wheat than is noticeable in the nose, and the crackery taste gives it a grainy sense in the middle.
The body is right, and it's light without needing to be heavier, but there's something a little slick in the middle, though it doesn't get carried away. It's nice and soft with a good carbonation and light bite of crispness.

Pours out a clear orange color. Blinked twice, and all the foam seemed to have mysteriously vanished. Oh well. Smells...just like a package of blueberries. That's actually rather nice. This is one of those beers you really wouldn't mind just sitting around and sniffing for a while.

A grainy taste, however, doesn't mesh perfectly with the blueberries, but well enough to be quite drinkable. The two flavors seem to mesh increasingly less well as the brew warms up, so this might be one to keep ice cold.

A - Moderate dark yellow colored into a glass with very little head which dissipates quickly.

S - Beer and blueberries with some hint of malt.

T - A light flavored lager type beer with a lot of blueberries. The blueberry flavor is strong but not syrupy and overwhelming.

M - Moderate carbonation in a thin beer.

D - A nice change of pace

Light gold, amber color, clear with a small white, tight bubbled head. The head fades fast leaving an apple juice-like appearance behind. Aroma is packed full of blueberries. It brings to mind freshly made blueberry bread. Light crisp hops fit under the fruit among some doughy malt. Taste isn't bad. There's a surprising dryness after the sugary blueberry flavor explosion. Its almost too sweet for me as far as beer goes. Texture is slick and gritty and is followed by pointy bitterness at the finish. This is certainly well carbonated also. Easy to drink but I don't think I would want too many of these because of the sweetness.

Not a bad fruit beer but doesn't really do it for me.

You know, sometimes, it's all about setting. I had 5 of these while lounging on the beach on Jekyll Island and turning through Gary Jennings' "Aztec". And I loved it. The moment could not have been better.

Take away the fabulous read, and replace the deserted beach with my stuffy apartment, and this loses a bit of appeal.

Pours gold, lightly smogged with a thin white rim.
Scented foremost of blueberries, offset only partially with a pale graininess.
Begins with a pils like maltiness, cracker dry, and light. Perhaps a minor flourish of wheat-induced lemon, then it's onto blueberries and spun sugar. It's far from oversweet, it's body so light it's nearly frail, and for those that enjoy the fruit (as I do), it can be a voracious quaff. But's it's seems that it is better enjoyed while preoccupied with other pleasures. It pales when taken alone.

Pours a pale golden yellow with fleeting bubbly head. The nose has notes of blueberry, faint grains, and mild grassy hops. The taste is mild blueberries, faint hops, and pale malt. The mouthfeel is light, well carbonated, and crisp.

This is an easily drinkable beer, but the flavors are faint and mellow. There's nothing very spectacular here.

Cloudy straw gold, with a fair amount of carbonation. Lace is thin, about a pinky in size. Spotty.

Nose is nice and blueberry. Reminds me of blueberry muffins, which makes sense as this is a wheat beer with blueberry infusion. Love it!

Taste is mild, but balanced. Nice mix of wheat and blueberry. Definitely a light body here, so this is an easy drinker. Solid, but not outstanding. I could drink more of these, no problem.

Pleasant enough, Sweetwater's Blue is simply a golden ale infused with blueberry extract. It's clearly fruity in the nose, but the flavor is a bit more restrained; although it is balanced towards sweetness. It never builds on the palate however, and it finishes fairly dry with just a light dollop of blueberry and honey left on the tip of the tongue.

It's obviously a good cross-over beer, or at least one that gets attention from those who normally don't enjoy bitter or hoppy beers; and I think it would fit in nicely at a wide range of events, especially those in the outdoors during spring and summer.

So, if there's any drawback or defect to this beer it's that the head simply doesn't last that long, and the lacing is limited. Otherwise it's quite nice.

*Notes from 3/4/2011*

I am not a big fan of fruit beers and in particular blueberry beer. Even so, this was a very sub-par beer. tasted overwhelmingly of blueberry( surprise surprise) . This being my first beer from Sweetwater, it did not bod well and I hope that their other beers are better. I don't like to judge an entire brewery based on a bad beer, or a good one for that matter. I also got a few of their other ones and expect better things. More reviews to follow.

Pours a straw yellow color. Very clear. Only a few bubbles and no head whatsoever.

Doesn't smell like blueberry juice added to the beer. Scents of wheat, flowers, and fruit fill the nose.

Amazingly carbonated, despite no bubbles. The blueberry flavor is very subtle, tastes like a pilsner with some sweet berries.

The mouthfeel is a bit rough, but would make for a good summer beer. It's astringent and finishes with a dry, champagne-like feel.

Not the best beer I've ever had, but it works.

Thanks to Leftmindedrighty for this.

It tastes like blueberry candy. So if you like that taste, and think it would be a good idea to pair it with pale bready malts, this beer is made for you. I'm not a huge fan and find the transition from the fruit flavor to malt aftertaste to be rough and a touch astringent. On par with other good blueberry brews.

Pours a pale yellow with a white head and minimal lacing. The nose is loaded with blueberries - it's like sniffing a warm blueberry muffin. Very strong smell. Taste is, as expected, blueberries. It actually reminds me quite a bit of Fruity Pebbles. Blueberry sweetness. No bitterness to speak of. Light to medium bodied, mild carbonation.

A very pleasant surprise. Figured I hate it, as it isn't big and dark and malty-caramelly-roasty. The blueberries I was pretty sure I'd dislike in there.

I poured it into a regular ol' pint and it produced a two finger head, which settled down quickly and went away. Noticeable but not overpowering smell of blueberries, which also fades as beer warms. When at its coldest, blueberries are subtly but definitely tasted first, and then a rather light but refreshing beer makes itself known. By the end of the glass, the beer taste is coming first and the blueberries are finishing.

I thought the beer managed to strike a nice balance of fruit and beer taste. I can see grabbing a couple more of these in the heat of next summer.

Pours amber, small head that dissapates quickly.

Strong blueberry aroma, not excessive though, crisp and not too sweet.

Light body, medium carbonation. Medium blueberry flavoring with crisp flavor. Slight citrus flavor blends with the blueberry in the finish.

Not the greatest fruit beer and not my favorite from Sweetwater but it's refreshing on a hot day.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a crystal clear gold with 2 fingers of fizzy eggshell-white head. This shrinks down to almost nothing, just a few thin wisps that leaves a tiny smattering of lace. The aroma is bready sweetness, light floral hops, and some prominent, but not overbearing, blueberry character.

The taste is much the same. Biscuits and malt sweetness with a firm (almost Pils like) hop profile that helps pulls things back. This is all permeated by a pleasant blueberry taste that keeps from feeling artificial and gives the profile a solid fruity smack. The mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied with a lower but still slightly prickly carbonation that is overall extremely easy feeling.

A enjoyed this. Very quaffable, with a nice blueberry taste that doesn't overdue it. I could kill a couple of these easily.
