The malt bill gives a subtle nutty & toasty flavors and the chocolate malt provides a rich cocoa flavor with aromas that range from roasted coffee to chocolate-covered dark fruits. The hops used provides excellent bitterness in relation to the chocolate notes of the malt. The flavor and aroma provide clean floral, fruity and herbal notes. A light dose of hops brings balance to all.

I really enjoyed this brown ale. It’s a very attractive looking brew with a nice white head and a nutty nose. The flavor and smoothness really stand out. After drinking a few pints of Guinness stouts over St. Patties this brown held it’s own, although it’s a different style of a brown.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a New Belgium Globe Glass
The beer pours a deep copper/brown color with about two fingers worth of off white head that slowly recedes leaving behind very little lacing.
The aroma is bready, with hints of lightly roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and just a faint nuttiness.
The flavor is very close to the nose; roasted malt, caramel, bready/biscuity malts, chocolate, and just a hint of nuttiness. There is just the faintest hint of floral hops on the finish. The beer is medium/light bodied and moderately carbonated.
Overall, this is a good Brown Ale, but doesn't quite distinguish itself from the pack.

A very solid brown ale...
I feel like brown ales are like a forgotten style - they're not quite stouts and they're not quite IPAs, but nonetheless they have a charm all their own. Take this one, it really looks good and has a nice malty scent, mouthfeel is a bit weak, but it's made up for by a full-bodied taste that makes it all the way to the end of the glass. I'm definitely glad I have a few more on hand to try out...

Just below above average, which for me is 3.5. Pours a clear darkish brown color with full head. Malt and chocolate dominate the aroma. The taste follows, with an increased sweetness that is ok, not great. Medium mouthfeel and an aftertaste that follows the taste profile

12 oz. can from tackle box 12pack, poured into glass pub mug.
Nice deep brown transparent ale, full head settles quickly
Chocolatey nutty malt aromas dominate, with a slight underlying woody note that is very pleasant
Taste is pretty sweet up front, milk chocolate powder, maltiness for sure, and a tart/ bittering effect abbreviates the sweetness and it dries out, which must be some hops. Feels is a little thick and soft for me, but it's pretty okay/ good.
If you like the tootsie roll brown ales, this is your dog. Overall, a let down. Kinda like Georgia football!! ouch.

From notes 10/18/14: Pours a clear brown producing 3+ fingers of tan, short-lived head that leaves a thin wash of lace as it recedes. Aroma is mild roasted malt, toasted bread crust, hints of caramel, cocoa and nuts. Taste is roasted malt, brown bread, cocoa, caramel, thin dark fruits, honey, nuts, floral hops and some bitterness. Aftertaste is is roast, caramel and a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, creamy with a light prickle, astringent in the finish and more so in the aftertaste. It deepens in complexity and intensity as it warms. Let it sit for 20 minutes or so after the pour for fuller flavor and aroma.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; pretty bottle, but no production information.
A: Pours a clear, dark copper to brown color, although with a reddish caste to light, a one quarter inch, foamy white head, limited spotty retention, and some soapy lacing.
S: Aromas of dark berries, plum, and cocoa come through. Sweet, almost floral bouquet, e.g honeysuckle, at first.
T: Flavor is a melange of caramel and roasted malt with a blackberry or unsweetened strawberry flavor. A cane sugar note, perhaps but without undue sugariness. Modest bitterness provides a nice counterpoise limited excessive sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Minimal aftertaste.
O: This was an example of a very nicely constructed American Brown Ale. Drinkable, enjoyable, and I like the name. If you are considering serving this style, consider this one.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a very dark brown color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of bready malts, nuts. Taste has lots of rich malts, dark breads, nuts, some hops are present. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Well done.
