Smells malty with a little nose hoppiness. Pours thin and brown with a light tannish head. Notes of nuts and roast in the malts. Slightly hoppier finish than a typical brown, as is typical with most Sweetwater products. I don't enjoy the hops in this brew - they just don't balance this brew out.

Pours a deep amber with a thin slightly off white head,I had to wait for my bottle to warm a little to start to pick up on the aromas mainly of caramel malt and roasted nuts.Flavors are mainly intune with aromas caramel and roasted nuts mainly somewhat earthy in the finish but nothing out of the ordinary.Really thought this beer was quite watery and I think that took away from it,nothing horrible but not something I would search out agin.

Appearance – This one poured a strong but clear brown in color with a moderate but thick and stubborn head.

Smell – The malts are very smooth at the nose and stuffed with brown sugar and syrup.

Taste – Wow! The sugars are extra fine here. They are like a mix of natural maple syrup, raw brown sugar, and cane. The malts too are incredibly tasty.

Mouthfeel – This one is shy of medium-bodied but oily slick around the teeth. It also had a refreshing light bitterness to it.

Drinkability – This was much lighter than the way I remember it last year on-tap when I was down in Atlanta. It is incredibly smooth though and one of the easiest-drinking Browns that I’ve had to date.

Comments – Thanks to Uncle Flip for including this in his WTF BIF package to me. It was a thoughtful gesture and made me almost gasp when I saw it in the box as I had always wondered how I could get my hands on another bottle. Cheers, mate!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Clear chesnut brown with minimal off-white head, about 1/4", which quickly dissipated to smattering of bubbles on the surface and thin white ring around the edge.

S: An earthy nutty aroma nests nicely on a bed of medium toasted malts. There is the slightest bit of hoppy citrus if you look carefully.

T: Very well balanced malts that start just a touch sweet and finish just a touch dry. Nice solid malt flavors with a slightly nutty tone and just the slightest hint of peat. Finishes with a touch of sweet and lingers a bit dry. Complex and smooth.

M&D: Medium weight with light carbonation and a smooth disposition makes this a very enjoyable brew.

Thanks to Maria for picking this up for me during her travels.

A - Light translucent brown with mahogany tones, looks a lot like an amber. Small head that fades fast to a lacing on top.

S - Very "woody" aroma to me. Some toasted malt, but really does small like a stick to me.

T - Lots of toasted malt flavors with some caramel sweetness. Would like just a touch more hop bitterness to balance it out.

M - A little thin and definitely lacking in carbonation, was near flat.

D - Good session beer if you are looking to drink without really paying much attention to the flavor. Won't wow you or disgust you.

Coke brown body, nicely clear. Off white quarter inch head on the pour, loosly held together. Reduced to meandering pockets of bubble on top with a ring around the glass.

Nice nutty aroma brought on with lightly toasted malts. Light biscuit aromas as well, followed by a hint of floral, grassy hops.

Taste is lightly toasted malts again, but lacks the nuttiness I like in a brown. Finish is a good biscuit malt which lingers for a fleeting moment. Quite crisp overall.

Medium to thin bodied with a good deal of crispness. Easy to put down. Quite refreshing. I can see why so many locals pick this up. Its a good transitional brew that can break the summer heat.

Dark brown in color with a full finger of off-white head...very little lacing.
Nutty aroma with a sweet caramel malt in the finish...very nice as it warms.
The taste is just what I'm looking for...low hops, not too sweet and a nice nutty profile.
A touch thin, but typical for the offering's style, so not really docking it there.
Could drain quite a few of these in an evening.
Above average from one of my favorite out of reach breweries.

Drank from a 12 oz bottle. The beer poured a clear brown with a reddish hue. There wasn't much carbonation and the head did not last long at all.

The nose is heavy on the malts with a caramel hint.

It is medium to full bodied with a heavy malt taste with a hint of caramel in the middle before a slight hop finish at the end.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into pseudo-pint glass.

Appearance: Dark reddish-brown with decent head.

Smell: Caramel, chocolate and molasses. A little faint.

Taste: Strong semi-sweet malty core of chocolate and molasses. Nice core, but that's about all there is. Some light nutty and spicy notes on the finish, but the key word is light.

Feel: Medium body, fairly smooth with moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

Overall: Decent Brown Ale that could us a little more hops and/or nuttiness to combat the sweet malts.

Pours a cloudy amber-brown color with a small tan head that settles into a resilient film and leaves some lace. Aroma of wet dog, roasted malts, mud, rain water, wet grass, and soggy cereal. Flavor of toasted malts, nuts, root beer, lots of earth, and a lingering woodsy note. Light-medium bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a wet, earthy mouthfeel. Bad smell on a brown ale- this one is off.

Served in a pint glass at a Sweetwater-sponsored charity event.

A - Dark brown with a reddish-orange tint; transparent but with a slight haze.

Aroma: plenty of toasted malt. Nutty with a hint of molasses.

Taste: a nice medium roasted malt. A very subtle spicy hop note. Sweet but appropriate for style. Nice malty aftertaste.

M - medium body; good carbonation; smooth

O - excellent for style

Got this on tap at Sweetwater Brewery.

Pours a decent brown color with a good one finger head. Pretty good retention, lacing isn't too great.

Smells nutty, with a good amount of malt sweetness and a tiny amount of hops. There's also a slightly metallic aftertaste. Not bad, but not that good.

Tastes much the way it tastes. The nutty taste is hardly there however, and the biggest thing is the sweetness. There's a tiny amount of hop bitterness at the end as well. Like the smell, not bad, but not that good.

Mouthfeel was a bit thin and overly carbonated. I would have liked it to be a little thicker and smoother. The carbonation did bring out the flavor however.

This beer's drinkability is alright. I have a lot of other beers I'd like to have over the course of a night, but if I was presented with a bunch I wouldn't complain.

Overall it's not worth seeking out and there are a lot of other Brown Ales out there that are better, but it is by no means a bad beer. Don't buy too many, but don't turn one down.

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer pours a crystal clear deep amber -brown body with an oatmeal colored head that is fizzy.
S- This beer has a pale toasted malt aroma with a field corn toasted note with a dry caramel malt note in the finish.
T- This beer has a soft toasted malt slightly dry with some caramel malt in the finish. As the beer warms there is a biscuit note that comes through.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a slight watery texture.
D- This beer has a nice aroma and flavor but it is just very muted.

Tried a pint of this at the Atlanta airport while I was waiting for my flight home.

Arrived without any head so really don't know about that, but it did retain a skinny little light brown lacing throughout my experience with this particular glass of beer.

Aroma consists of roasted caramel malts with hints or accents of honey and roasted nuts.

The taste is that of roasted caramel malts highlighted with a roasted nut taste and maybe a slight molasses or something similar coming through, the taste remains throughout a light dryish aftertaste.

I quite liked this brown although I wish it had had a slightly fuller body on it, but that's ok with me.

Pours a slightly hazed rusty brown color. A thin tan head rises and falls rather quickly and doesn't leave much behind to look at. Not a pretty beer but nothing odd or bad that would stop one from drinking it.

The nose is a step in the right direction. Lightly sweet and malty with a heavy dose of nuts. The nose could be more potent but at least it's fragrant and hints at a great tasting beer.

This is a tasty beverage. Sweet but mild with a great malty finish. A solid nutty taste throughout the drinking experience. The best thing about the flavor is it's simplicity. There isn't much complexity which works for the style of beer. Well done.

Simple mouthfeel. Smooth, not too carbonated which really let's the nutty flavor come through. Easy to drink and a perfect session beer. Simple and flavorful, well worth giving a try.
