Had on draft at the Sweetwater 15th Anniversary party

A - Cloudy golden with 1 finger of head and lace all over the glass

S - Candy sugar and peppery spices.

T - Wow...almost tastes like a sour! White wine, apples, and fruit. Belgian yeast. Tasty as hell.

M - Medium bodied and medium carbonation.

O - Awesome brew! Wish Sweetwater would bring back their best once in a while..and this one is at the top of the wish list!

a light golden amber coming through right away with a nice light haziness to it. Nice carbonation bubbling up throughout the glass creating a nice two inch head of white foam across the top that hung around for what seemed like forever.

The aroma was akin to some kind of spicy green tea at first. Lots of light grain, yeast aromas of fresh leaves and a touch of light citrus sprinkled in. A spiciness I am assuming from the Basil leaves, very intresting aroma for sure. The flavor was light, nicely balanced with a lightly grainy start to it, that turned over to some light fruit, peaches? Maybe green apples, coming through in the middle with that nice light and very fresh leaf like flavor. Hints of spice rippled throughout, especially in the finish which was dry and nicely accented. Intresting light body on this one was accented very well by lush carbonation that kept the profile nice and lively

Pulled from the crevices of the Sweetwater brewery, it was to have had a bomber of this forgotten ale shared among a select few. Thanks Nick for the opportunity.

Hazy and straw in color, this glowing ale releases a white froathy cap of airy and billowing foam that was decorated with yeast and spice. Long standing head character adheres to the glass with sticky lace and a very handsome session.

Rich aromas of fruity esters blend with yeasty spice for a rounded and well mellowed scent. Apricots, peaches, pears, apples, and white grapes set the tone while a peppery scent corriander, white peppery, black peppercorns, and a hint of cumin and clove rise to balance the nose. Herbal and grassy, there's an embedded hop scent that gives as much complexity as balance.

Flavors do much the same as the aromas- Fruity sweetness is backed by light caramel and powdered sugar sweetness that seemingly evaporates on the palate much like cotton candy. Honey and rum soaked fruits give a very citrusy and tropical taste with ripeness and maturity. Clove, corriander, orange peel, white and black pepper, and a woody alcohol flavor gives an herbal and spicy counterpart to the fruity sweetness and sharpen the beer considerably at finish.

Rich and creamy, the beer carries more weight than is usual for a Tripel, but the carbonation proves fleeting and the beer's sweetness disolves into a spicy, warm, and dryish finish. A linger of light honey, spice, and hay extend into the soothing aftertaste with hardly a hint of the 10% abv.

A fantastic session with a couple guys at the brewery to sip and discuss the subtle nuances of the beer and how it has progressed over the past two years. Again, thanks to Nick and other brewer personnel.

Appearance: Hazed, yellow-gold body with a small, white head.

Smell: Lightly sweetish nose chock full of citrus, pineapple, and wind-blown grass. The malts player a minor role in the aroma along with a faint waft of peppery alcohol in the background.

Taste: Delicate, light pale maltiness with a pinch of sweet table sugar and a few careful drops of clover honey. This is proceeded by a synthesis of American hop flavors, particularly tropical citrus fruits and a grassy herbaceousness. Bold moderate bitterness. Tiny pinch of clove. Small peppery hints at the tail-end. Finishes dry, bitter, and a tad warming.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A solid, somewhat Americanized tripel. I look forward to trying more Dank Tank brews in the future, which seems to be Sweetwater's answer to Terrapin's Side Project series.

On tap at the Brick Store Pub. This beer is the first beer in the Sweetwater "Dank Tank" series, and a very nice beer it is. Pours like a nice tripel should, with a nice high dense white head that leaves some very nice lacing. Smells of floral, earthy, and spicy hops that merge into some tripel sweetness. The taste is nicely balanced between the hops and tripel sweetness. This beer comes off very much like Hopsinjoor- a hopped Belgian style tripel rather than a Belgian style IPA. Lingering piney and herbal hops throughout give a nice dryness to the normal tripel sweetness. Well done. Smooth and delicious. I like Sweetwater, but I've wanted to see some more experimental stuff without having to go to their tasting room. Hopefully this bodes well for the future on that front.

On tap in my basement...ain't life grand, poured into a tulip.

Pours a crystal clear gold with a huge three-finger fluffy white head that hangs on forever and leaves sheets of lacing.

The aroma has lots of fruity hops with lemons, oranges and a little bit of grassy hops as well. Some Belgian yeast sweetness in the background with hints of spices as well.

The taste also starts with some light lemony hops. Ever so slight bubblegum sweetness. Very crisp tasting overall and dry in the finish with a little pepper.

This is a very drinkable tripel with a big hop profile. I'm really excited about the new Dank Tank experiment at Sweetwater and this is a very good start.

On tap at the Metropolis Taco Mac, Atlanta, GA. Served in a 10 oz. glass.

Appearance: A clear golden yellow body, with sparse, fine, and slow effervescence - perhaps slower and sparser than I'm used to for the style, though nonetheless attractive. The creamy, gorgeous white head has above average retention and leaves amazing swaths and streaks of beautiful lacing.

Aroma: Pale candi sugars and Belgian yeast spices come through, the latter being dominated y cloves. Smells like a hefe at many points, though sweeter and without the wheat edge. Hints of fruit emerge as it warms - strawberry, berries, pineapple, perhaps.

Taste: Relatively dry and crisp, good for the style. A few alcohol notes are present, unfortunately, though they're relatively well-hidden by the well-attenuated malt body, a slight hop prickle and grassyness, a few banana notes, and a dash of peppery, largely-neutral spice.

Mouthfeel: Medium to thick bodied with some even effervescence, though not nearly as much as I'd expect from the style. Amp this one up a little.

Drinkability: Good to see Sweetwater branching out here, and this is a solid, drinkable, enjoyable first stab at the style for them - I think it's the first stab for them, at least. Tweak it a little and it'd be stellar. Until then, I'd be happy to order this one again, despite the high abv%.

A. Bright gold, mostly clear but a tad hazy. Head is 1" thick, fluffy, and clingy.

S. Oranges, lemons, candi sugar, banana phenols, straw, and bubblegum.

T. Very sweet with candi sugar and you also get the bubblegum and citrus. The hops are nice and bitter--earthy-- and balances nicely with the sweetness.

M. Medium in the mouth and high carbonation.

D. A litte on the sweet side making it rich, but an EXCELLENT attempt for the Sweetwater gang stepping out of the box and brewing something different. Keep the Dank Tank working, guys!

On tap at the Brick Store Pub, Decatur, GA and Brockett Pub, Clarkston, GA.

A - Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with a thick eggshell white head. Laces well.
S - A solid hoppy smell, with a bit of citrus, bubblegum?, and a very slight funk...but I love funk!
T - Tastes just like a hopped Triple. I think the aroma is hoppier than the taste, don't mind that at all. A bit of a flowery / citrus flavor, very slight buttery note, clean and crisp. Maybe a little spice in there.
M - A dry and clean mouthfeel with a tad of carbonation.
D - The 10% keeps you from having more than two but it is easy to drink and defiantly a "creeper".
Out of the two Belgian-style offerings I have had from Sweetwater, this is my favorite. This one holds its own. Look forward to their next Belgian-style offering, how about a Flemish Red or an American Wild Ale???

Brought to the table @ Charlie Mopps in a funny little mini glass pitcher with an empty Chimay glass. Bright hazy peachy yellow in appearance, pillowy white head. Good floral hop aroma, lemon zest. Crisp, floral hop notes with a nice spice taste of clove & chamomile. Head disolves into a white film, with nice web lacing in the glass. Very smooth...touch of spearmint and honey detected in the dry mouthfeel. Hoppy meets fruity crisp Belgian. Quite good and dangerously drinkable for 10%. This could be the best offering I've tasted from Sweetwater.

Served on-tap at the Brickstore Pub in Decatur.

A- Pours a beautiful golden yellow thats very clear, not cloudy at all, with a nice white head a few fingers deep. Good carbonation.
S- Strong earthy hop and Belgian candy aromas. I detect a little bit of funk as well.
T- Tastes like a slightly funky farmhouse Belgian Tripel (if that makes any sense). The 10%+ alcohol is masked very well.
M- Meduium to light body, not too dry, and decently carbonated.
D- Average drinkability, and definately a sipper. Took me a while to finish my glass.

Overall, a solid offering from Sweetwater's "Dank Tank" and a decent Belgian Tripel.

Served at Charlie Mopps Public House:
A- Looks very sparkly. Server in a small pitcher to pour into a belgian-style goblet. Decent light foam in the pitcher, but only a hint of lace when transferred to the goblet. Liquid is a a clear golden with an amber cast. Slightly cloudy, so not completely transparent.
S- Very, very sweet, like cotton candy. A hint of oranges and banana and fragrant tropical flowers. Also, the hops come through with that floral scent. Heavenly...
T- Hoppy, but not "in your face". The sweet malts, rather than clashing with the hops, really just seem to mellow them. Not sure exactly what tastes i'm getting on those sweet and hoppy sides so they must be mild, though good (once again that jerk is standing behind me smoking a cigar so tasting and smelling is TOUGH...nothing against cigars, just that guy and his nasty one)
M- Buttery, carbonation is there but more on the middle and back of the tongue, not at all sharp.
D- Alcohol is well- balanced and not overpowering in the least, but this is definitely a sipping beer.

Upstairs at the BSP.
A clear straw-colored Belgian ale with a fluffy white head. Smell is decidedly hoppy, with some gentle malts. Taste is nice solid malt with bananas, a fine layer of hops, and some alcohol on the end. Kind of like a tripel, but not exactly. Hoppier and less sweet than expected. Still quite good. Mouthfeel is a strong point of the beer. Very full, almost foamy, but in a way that compliments the package. Good drinkability except for the "creeping" ABV.

The first run out of Sweetwater's "Dank Tank." This tripel IPA pours a magnificent clear golden, very appetizing, with a very thick and exceptionally persistent buttery-offwhite head - you could practically use it for insulation. ;) Aroma is mainly malty with some hoppy hints and touches of spices and caramel. Flavor is predominantly malty with a lemony overtone and a hint of hard cider. Texture is tingly and very smooth, leaving a sour and sweet aftertaste.

Had this on-tap at the Brick Store. I actually think this is more of a Belgian IPA, but Sweetwater calls it a trippel so I'll file it as such. ABV is listed at "over 10%". It was only available at the brewery at first, and I don't think it'll make it into bottles unless there's a huge response.

Pours a cloudy orange and lemon-yellow color with a frothy two-finger head. The head recedes into a patchy layer of bubbles on top and a thick ring around the glass. Lacing is decent.

Smells largely of fresh hops - bitter and citrus aromas mostly - with hints of bubblegum.

Tastes more like a trippel than it smells. Bananas, bubblegum, and light fruit flavors are joined by a good amount of hop flavors midway through the sip. The ending is surprisingly bitter, but it works.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a good thickness and the carbonation is a bit on the light side for a trippel. It goes down smoothly.

Drinkability is good. My only qualm is that the bitterness gets to be a bit much. Overall though, I finished my glass very quickly.

Overall this is a very solid offering from Sweetwater. I'll be very interested to see what else comes from the "Dank Tank" series.
