Excellent brew!! The appearance is very dark in which you cant see through with a beautiful head that sticks around almost through the whole beer. The smell is very grabbing with a nice smell of malt and a very fruity hops sent! The taste is great you think a beer of this strength would be a little much but it is suprisingly smooth. The mouthfeel is amazing almost non existant which makes for a 110% drinkability. Way to represent Georgia!!! Please go to your nearest spirit shop and try to find this beer you will not be upset!!

Pours a lovely dark and slightly hazy cinnamon-brown with a decent and not too persistent tan head. Aroma is quite strong, yeasty and fruity, slightly sweet with malty and caramel undertones - seriously tempting. Flavor is lively, yeasty and malty with strong caramel and fruity undertones - WHOA! This has quite a fierce alcohol bite! Texture is rough, tingly and sassy, leaving a lively and fizzy feeling on the tongue and inside the lips. A must!

A: pours a dark brown,almost black with ruby hues across the brew
S: a strong mixture of dark fruits(plums,figs) & alcohol
T: slight chocolate followed by those figs & dates with the warm alcohol following it up
M: feel is exactly what I'm looking for out of a quad. Not to heavy or sweet,just subtle carbonation to compliment the earthy tones of this brew.
D: other than the 11% on the side of this bottle,everything else leads me to believe I could drink 2, maybe 3 of these

Poured this into a Westmalle goblet. It shows as a deep red/brown color with a light creamy head. The head stays around and spreads itself unevenly across the surface of the beer.
Smells particularly strong. However, the booze is offset by a number of fruits - they vie for contention but I am not getting dominant odors from one in particular. Lots of brown sugar and tons of lighter spices to round the beer out.
Fruits and malt disguise whatever alcohol is lurking in this monster. At 11% that is no easy task. The brown sugar and other spices keep it well balanced.
Mouthfeel is great.
Drinkability is exceptional for a beer this high in alcohol. If I had bought more than one bottle, I could see myself losing track of my intake very easily.

Picked up a bomber at Total Wine in Greenville, SC for only $6
A: Ohh yea, this is a good look for a quad! Pours a rich, viscous looking opaque chestnut (almost looks black) color into the snifter. The khaki color head is big, rocky, billowy, dense, and creamy...all of which are highly desirable traits for the style, not to mention the excellent retention to release all of those aromas. I rarely give "5" for appearance, but this is up there with the best. This pour is comparable to that of Westvleteren 12 and Rochefort 10
S: Notes of Belgian spices immediately greet the nose; light clove, spearmint, bubblegum, and banana- the yeast has some nice traits. Next I find some dark fruit; fig, plum/prune, raisin, apple, and date. Light and soft notes of caramel and toffee, and possibly even some faint coffee grounds.
T: Not as complex as the best, but still multi-layered, so I'll break it down.
Front palate- There is an upfront spice that greets the palate with vigor, consisting of clove, spearmint, banana, and cardamom.
Mid palate- Aside from the spices, dark fruits (pear, fig, plum, raisin) lend a nice, sweet flavor to the combination. To compliment, the caramel and dark malts add a new layer to this beer, producing some caramel, toffee, and even a little bittersweet chocolate. Overall, a residual sweetness similar to brown sugar
End palate- Now to the best part, the yeast! I must say that the characteristics that the yeast adds to the complexity of this brew are pretty impressive...the byproducts are rather phenolic, giving it clove, apple, a little butter, slightly smokey, and if you dig down there some band-aid flavors. All of which are positive traits in my opinion (at least in this circumstance) and really add some depth to the beer. Very delicious, and the alcohol is warming, and not very apparent. Slight bitter twang as well.
MF/D: Creamy, viscous, and smooth mouthfeel...pretty big body for the style. Carbonation is spot-on, with only a little prickle in the mouth. There is a long, lingering clove/spicy finish. Drinkability is high despite the abv, but definitely a sipper, and would make a great aperitif alongside some baked apricot brie
*I found it pretty damn important to let this decant well (I decanted for about 25 minutes), and I found a noticeable difference in taste and aroma. Highly recommended, especially with some good appetizers. I can't wait to try the aged version of this!

Drank this beer on Friday night out of the bottle, not as preferable as off tap, but had to do. Pours dark, the head was a little thin, but that to me was the worst part of this beer. For the ABV which is 11% this beer went down very VERY easy. Dangerous, but a great problem to have. Another great offering from the fellas over at Sweet Water.

22oz bomber supplied through a downsouth trader by way of oglmcdgl. Poured into some kitchen glasses with friends. My first from this brewery.
A slight hiss when the cap was pryed, bsp pours a dark brown with mahagony trimmings. Brooklyn tap water. A nice heavy tan foam with some thickness and legs with stringy lace on the way down.
Smells the part with sweetness up front with a lot of sugar and dark fruit, plum comes to mind. A big hit of caramel and toffee from the malt blasting and not a trace of hops. Some nuts in the distance.
This is one of the cleanest tasting quads from america that I've ever had. From the clean ass pour with hardly any sediment I knew this would be sanitary, but damn this is clean. Candi sugar, bubblegum, begian bready yeast is minimal but noted. Dark plum juice and a sense of apple skins. Not a trace of alcohol
While the alcohol is not tasted, there is a certain hotness to this that's not a bother. A sweet pretty full bodied quad that does not cloy, rather bsp sooths the mouth with sugary furity goodness with a malty finish. This does its thing and leaves a sweet finish, carb is felt but its at a point where it's not very crisp.
This is a great quad, and one of the better american versions I've had. It's drinkable but I think a whole bottle to the head would be a bit much. This is a good one to share.

I first enjoyed this on tap at The Brick Store Pub. This review is from my 4th bottle at home.
Poured into a snifter. Color is deep brown with a reddish tint. Nice amount of head. Smell is sweet, brown sugary, and yeasty.
Taste is excellent. Dark sweet malts, brown sugar, caramel well proportioned. Nothing too strong. Spicy, dry finish. Alcohol is evident, but not 11% evident. It's pretty well masked. Some quads I have had were too sweet, or too alcoholic, or too fruity for my tastes, but this one has an excellent combination of flavors all kept in check.
Drinkability is very good!
This is my favorite American made Quad. I think it can also hold its own against some of the Belgian/Trappist Quads out there. I hope there's enough distribution available for this one to get the notoriety it deserves! I wouldn't be surprised to see Dank Tank BSP end up on the Top Ten Quads in the World on this site.
This one really deserves to be brewed more than once!
Now, if I could just figure out what local pub the fellas at Sweetwater collaborated with to make "Dank Tank BSP?"

Pours dark mahogany in the glass but shows through as a clear deep copper when held up to light. There is a small, short-lived bubbly beige head that recedes to a collar.
The aroma is very sweet with candi sugar, caramelized fruits and sweet malts. Maybe some light spiciness as well, but the nose was predominantly sweet.
The taste is a bit more complex though it still has the dominant sugar-coated fruit backbone. The spices come out a bit more, especially in the finish where the palate is left tingling with a combination of spices and alcohol.
The mouthfeel is very lively with lots of carbonation which keeps the dominant sweetness from getting out of hand.
This is an excellent beer and I'd put it up there with Sweetwater's best. Plus, any beer that even subtly honors the Brick Store is good in my book. A very sweet but drinkable Belgian.

Have had this both in 22 oz bottle and at the brewery on tap. Both taste very similar so all the tasting notes apply to both.
Pours a nice deep brown with hints of read. You can get head off the pour but it dissipates almost immediately because of the high ABV. At 11%, this guy is a monster.
Nose is rich. I can't identify any particular fruits, but it's very sweet and caramel, but there are also strong notes of alcohol because of its content. It's a Belgian style, so expect some spices.
Taste is amazing. Brown sugar is very prominent, there are dark fruit notes, and a heaping portion of malt and spices. Normally a beer with this high ABV would be strong tasting, but this one is not at all strong tasting. Spices are wonderful, it's very well balanced. Absolutely a wonderful beer.
It's very drinkable. It's strong, but the flavors make it drinkable. The mouthfeel is part of this: it's so syrupy that you can't help but enjoy it over and over again. I spent 4 tickets on this beer at my last Sweetwater tour and it was absolutely worth it. Definitely one of the best Sweetwater brews that I've had.

Had this on-tap appropriately enough at the Brick Store Pub (BSP), and a lovely beer it was fresh and on draught. Pours a beautiful burnished mahogoney with a very nice head and beautiful lacing. Smells of banana, clove, prunes, and brown sugar as well as some other warm spices. Not too sweet in the nose. Tastes very nice. Deep, slightly woody, with lots of fruit and citrus and some tannins underlying everything and lending structure. Smooth, but with good body, and not too sweet. A great effort.

22 oz. Foggy reddish brown pour, not quite a finger of off white head. Lacing ok.
Aroma has some fig, brown sugar, raisin and molasses. Hints of red fruit, fruitcake, booze.
Taste matches well, minus the booze. Malty, brown sugar, red fruit, cocoa all come through strong. Finishes with some of the cocoa and strawberry, grape, apple. Very clean finish.
Slightly warming, but the alcohol is not present in the mouth. Lighter medium body, goes down quite easy.
I enjoyed this one, a style I don't drink very often.

Very excited, I get to try my first American made Quad! Big thanks to Doodler, you the man.
Pours a dark brown color with some amber highlights around the edge of the glass. Thick creamy lacing all over the sides of my La Trappe Chalice.
Smell is of figs, dried fruit, rum, banana, raisins maybe some cinnamon, caramel.
Delicious taste. Taste reminds me of Rochefort 10 without the medicinal flavors. Caramel, molasses, figs, raisins, some spicy cinnamon like notes. Just a touch of booze. A very full bodied chewy beer that can easily hold its own among the top Belgian Quads. A whole bomber is a bit much for one person, you could easily split between two people.
Finish is slightly dry and a bit hoppy (spicy). Flavors from the beer linger on your tongue and around you lips for a long time, encouraging anther drink. I'm really enjoying this one and again thanks goes out to a great trader, Doodler!

A - Color is a terracotta brown with a beige 1/2 finger width head that fades to a frothy film after a couple of minutes.
S - First a fruity and brown sugar aroma that has a warming quality aobut it. A second whiff offers the characteristic "dark fruits" - dried figs, dried raisin, dates. A third and fourth whiff locates a complex and crisp malty aroma. I just love the aroma of a good dark Belgian style Ale! A whiff after writing my thoughts on "Taste" and "Mouthfeel" renders that sticky caramel with notes of apple, pear, cherry, and clove.
T & M - Full flavored, medium bodied, creamy texture with an emerging warming sensation that begins and lasts long after you swallow this down. The complex malt flavor strikes first. There seems a nice complex blend of the dried fruits and something like an Asian pear. Spicy notes - clove and allspice. I'm also getting a mild but noticeable licorice notes. The finish is like that bitter aftertaste left by dark chocolate. Not a very smooth finish.
D - The creamy texture and the flavor makes this very drinkable but the finish slows things down.
I found limited release quad at my local package store. I bought one last Friday. After trying it, I bought four more on Monday. Today, Wednesday, I bought the last two on the shelf. The price point is awsome - 5.99. It comes close to some of the other Quads and Dubbels. I am so happy I have five more of these in my cupboard.

Served on-tap in a bulbous Maudite tulip/snifter at the Lodge (Hilton Head, SC) for $6.
A: Unmolten candy dusky brown-amber with solid pour with 1/2-finger of off-white small-bubbled head with good retention and nice lace sheeting the glass.
S: Dark fruits like candied figs and date dominate with a caramel-brown sugar note and herbal, orange hops providing some balance to this maltbomb.
T: Wow -- this beer delivers a malty richness with hops and alcohol blended to provide a great package of malt and hops flavor. Fig, raisin, date, and grape flavors mix with caramel and raw brown sugar sweetness and is finished with light alcohol and citrus hops bitterness. A deft use of alcohol and hops to provide a counterpoint to the heavyhanded maltload.
M: The body is huge on this beer -- full if there every was -- with low-medium carbonation to leave a chewy but smooth brew.
D: A bit on the gooey side, but the dark fruit maltiness and strong citrus hops have me sold on this one. I hope Sweetwater releases this one in its current form, or in a very similar, less sugary format. A great beer that is a good sipper and willbe great in the autumn/winter time of year.

The beer pours into an oversized wine glass a dark brown, but not quite black, with brilliant ruby red highlights when held up to the light. The head is somewhere between off white and true tan, and only one finger high with a decent amount of lacing. The nose is of dark fruits soaked in alcohol, enticing but there's not really anything else going on, which is a little bit of a letdown. The taste makes up for it though, as it opens with a bit of biscuity malt, before transitioning into the familiar alcohol laced plums and raisins. A quick splash of caramel comes in at the close to round things out. The mouthfeel is the weak link in this beer, though it's not that bad in its own right, but both the carbonation is a tad low and the beer could stand to be a little bit richer. While alcohol is definitely present, it's so well integrated into the beer that it doesn't affect it's drinkability at all. My first Sweetwater experience was a mixed bag (Big Ol' Belgian Blue Balls), but BSP Quad is a great beer and one that I'll be looking to get some more of to add to my cellar.
