22 oz bomber poured into pint glass - waited for warm-up to 40 degrees F for smell/taste/etc.
A - hazy orange copper - 2 finger head on medium pour down to 1/4 inch after 2 minutes. Light lacing, bubbles from bottom for five minutes at least.
S - citra aroma/flavor hops - centennial bitter hops - (my guesses) bready 2-row and crystal 20-40 malt - slight sour mash aroma. Maybe some pilsner?
T - potato bread with caramel and tangerine drizzle - nice effervescence on tongue. Grassiness grows as it warms.
M - sparkle that leads to dry sherry pucker - slight astringency and nice, light, alcohol warming though a couple of gulps will git ya.
D - one bomber will do, but I think the taste is good and the beer warms up nicely. I will share.
Hops are balanced to malt for my idea of an American Barleywine on the low-alcohol end of that style. If it is really a DIPA -then it needs more hop aroma. Later hop additions instead of so much early in the boil would skew it properly. IBUs are kinda high. I'm fuzzy on the style definition listed as it is. And BTW - I read the bottle after the review - Citra was a guess.
Nice attenuation and low esters for a hearty American ale.
