"This free flowing Hefeweizen is our tribute to the great work of Waterkeepers across the globe, and a reminder that we all need to pitch in to protect one of Earth's most vital natural resources: clean water. Drink, skinny dip, brew, fish. Help save our waters." This charity ale finally reached full-time summer seasonal status in 6 packs for 2013 after spending a few years in incredibly limited-release bombers. A portion of the proceeds goes towards the Waterkeeper Alliance that work to keep local rivers, like the Chattahoochee clean. Brewed in the style of a Hefeweizen.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served north of 52º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a sizable crisp frothy head of an ivory complexion over a pale gold amber body. Despite very mild haze, this beer has high clarity for a Hefeweizen. Carbonation is light and mellow. Retention is above average, with light spotty lacing. It's a pretty solid beer in terms of appearance, despite not necessarily falling in line with the style. 4

(Smell) Very reminiscent of a hefeweizen, with a moderate banana bread yeast profile, clean spices and very low esters or off flavors. A wheat base profile with a mild cracker malt peeking through. Balance is slightly sweet over light, but not cloyingly so. Lack of flavor diversity may be a valid concern, but in terms of simple, quaffable and clean German styles, this one does a fine job. 3.75

(Taste) Wheat malt is far more pronounced in the flavor, very clean, mildly sweet- arguably the centerpiece of the flavor. Yeast characters are further subdued- banana is toned down, leaving room for a now balanced clove-like spice and a dash of honey to add some welcome depth to the flavor. Highly drinkable, not overly sweet and the texture is not heavy nor thick. This beer dodges nearly every unenjoyable caveat that the Hefeweizen presents to an aspiring german-style brewer. 4

(Mouthfeel) Texture is mild- a smooth, soft wheat malt profile with some yeasty acidity and spice. Carbonation adds a touch of crispness to the texture. The body is medium for a hefeweizen, medium amongst all beers. Alcohol presence is low. 3.5

(Overall) A tasty Hefeweizen albeit a simple one that doesn't take any chances. If you're not a big fan of the German wheat styles, especially the ones with overdone yeast notes, this one is a fair homage to the simplicity that a Hefeweizen can maintain. If for nothing else, a donation to a charitable cause is a good reason to try this beer. 3.75

12 ounce bottle -> World Market Wheat Beer Glass

A - a vigorous pour yielded a massive overflowing head which slowly receded. Color was a beautiful crystal clear gold. Retention was pretty amazing and there was substantial lacing left behind. A beautiful beer.

S - mostly bananas and clove with some grassy notes too. The smell is not overpowering at all, but kind of gentle and pleasant.

T - taste is simple but appealing. The wheat notes are there along with the clove. The finish is dry and yeasty, but not pronounced.

M - a little thin and watery

O - I'm not really a wheat beer fan but this one is very drinkable, just the flavor is not particularly bold.

12 oz bottle courtesy of fthomasl pours a surprisingly clear-esque gold color with a massive, fluffy white head. Meringue-like retention and lace.

Nose seems more American wheat than hefe, there is a strong wheat base with a floral-grassy hop but is lacking in yeasty phenols. There is some banana and clove, but not as much as I would like.

Taste throws down some more clove, banana is still light and the accompanying wheat and mild hop is well played. Maybe think of this as a hefe-light? Its a decent beer, but seems to fall a bit on the watery and "not yeasty enough" side of things. It is quite refreshing and quaffable, the drinkability is off the charts and I think I could grab a sixer or two in the summer. It would be hard to pick this over some fresh Franziskaner though.

A - Pours a bright, fairly hazy yellow with 2 fingers of dense white head, very good retention and lacing!

S - Lots of lemon citrus and light clove/banana esters.

T - A little heavy on the lemon IMO, not grainy/spiced enough. Citrus lemon up front, some light spices quickly fade into a mildly sweet caramel malty flavor, aftertaste is mostly lemony.

M - Very refreshing, light bodied, decently carbonated.

O - Not bad by any means, good flavor - i just feel the balance is quite a bit out of proportion to what I would like it to be. If you want a less spiced more lemon refreshing hefe, I'd point you this way.

A - Appears a bright hazy straw gold color with a cream white head. Retention and lacing are below average.

S - Classic hefeweizen yeast aroma notes, mostly focused on clover rather than bubblegum and banana. Does have a nice grain note in the background similar to corn.

T - Flavor begins very light and crisp, which works into sweet flavor from grain bill in the middle. The finish really compliments the nose and fruity aromas. Aftertaste is short and clean.

M - Medium body. Decent amount of carbonation for style.

O - Definitely worth a try. Seeing this style come out from SweetWater is very exciting. It is great to see them move away from a majority of their new beers, which seem to be standard versions of styles with an higher content of American hops.

There is a very clean haze to this Hefeweizen with cloudy dingy yellow color. The head was bubbly, loosely settled an quickly dissipating.

The scent is strikingly Clovish, but more aromatic than the typical clove. There is also a fruity Esther aroma that is sweet and fragrant.

The taste is a little more fruity than clovey but there's phenolic aftertaste, ie Band-Aid. The fruity esthers simply can not over power the medicinal phenolic flavor that mixes with a weak bubblegum-like taste.

The feel is sharp, seltzer like and fills the mouth with bubbles. This is not Sweetwater's best entry.

Hefeweizens don't get any better looking than this: Cloudy straw in color with huge white head, thanks to swirling the bottle.

Spicy clove aroma.

The taste is classic too: spicy with typical banana and clove flavors.

Soft body.

Overall one of the best hefes in America.
