Could be darker, but it's an IPA for a reason. Kind of a golden straw orange color. Faint, peach skin color. A slight haze. The head is thin and comprised of tiny, tiny bubbles. It retains wells and produces a thin lace.

These rye beers are growing on me. This is a bit different in that it's got a nice balance of spicy rye and fruity citrus. The rye and orange work well together. A bit of cracker notes as well.

The taste seems more malt than anything. Pale and pilsner malts I'm guessing and that gave it a lagery taste that I don't care for. There still seems to be some orange rind that dances with the hops in the finish to give it some bite at the end.

I didn't care for the feel either. Not much spice that I expected it to have being a rye beer. It was more or less earthy and fairly bitter. Crisp and bitter finish with a typical for an IPA, lasting bitterness that takes you deep into the next sip.

I've had this before, but remembered it being better. It's not awful, just merely ok and not what I was expecting.

quite good , my 4th ale review of Sweetwater brewing Co.

served around 60° in a pint glass light amber , lotsa carbo 3" head ,lacing not shabby
hops in your face kabam as Emril might say ..the finish is hops , fruit from good choice of yeast and malt .. i tried to find the rye taste, its so good who cares ..i'll have another.

i do not notice soap and dry steel whatever in this Ale ,
it's a complex IPA and should be enjoyed

Poured into short tumbler glasses, consumed between 45-55 degrees over 15 minutes.

Thin, soapy low retention head atop a tanned gold pour with mild haze.
Grainy smell of rye covers pine, pear, and stale citrus.
Taste begins inside a fizzy front with light pepper-on-sour that melts quickly into starchy wildflowers.
It stands tall on the tongue early but falls flat after the buzz of bubbles. Lightly chewy mouthfeel that ends rather short and fibery.
Overall fairly bland apart from sharp aftertastes of soap and dry steel. This style deserves more nuanced representation.
