First really big brew I've had from these guys, and really looking forward to it.
Poured at the source into a tulip just before a flash mob of sorority sisters descended on the place (I think there is a beer name in that sentence somewhere).
Color is dark brown with deep ruby hues. A few bubbles of tan froth sit to and fro. Smells of brown sugar and plum up front with some fusel alcohol following then notes of black grape and taffy. Rich and complex on the palate with more brown sugar, black grape, prune juice and taffy. Almost heavy, but not quite and definitely brings the heat.
Lenny Bruce is not afraid, and this beer is also not afraid.

Pours a nice brown head with solid retention. Color of ruby and copper.
Nose of dark dried fruits, caramel.
Big malt forward, nice bitterness from a relatively tight carbonation. A touch boozy but not overpowering - leaves a bit of lingering warmth on the finish.
Solid mouthfeel and big body on this.
It's a really nice quad and feels like it was brewed in the same style as the trappists I've had. I bet the cab barrel aged version of this is fantastic.
