Poured into a pint glass at the brewery August 2015. This was my first beer with peppers and it was bad. Too much pepper/spice for me. I did not care for the smell or the taste, especially the aftertaste. Not my style.

From draft in a pint tulip
Nice black color with a half inch tan head.
Great smell of coffee with a small hint of chocolate on the finish.
Taste of coffee and chocolate. Followed by a nice spicy aftertaste from the chili.

Draft, hot chili nose, expecting a seriously hot beer. Body is amazing, very thick but easy going. Taste is lightly spicy with great overall stout taste, gentle chocolate and malt. Possibly deep elums best beer

On tap at Central Market (Houston), poured in a glass shaker pint. Deep, dark brown with a creamy tan head. Solid, roasted malt base, slight sweetness, with nice fruity pepper character. Subtle underlying heat. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Hatch pepper notes play well with the milk stout base.

On tap in front of Central Market, poured into plastic pint cup.
A - Pours black with 2 fingers of medium brown head, with about a centimeter of head that persists throughout drinking.
S - I get a strong aroma of hatch green chiles, roasted malt, and milk stout sweetness.
T - Unfortunately the flavor of green chiles is not as strong as the aroma is, but it is still good. I get the typical sweetness of a milk stout, some chocolate and roasted malt, and a subtle heat from the chiles.
M - Moderate body with low-to-moderate carbonation. This is easy drinking with barely any burn from the chiles.
O - A surprisingly sessionable and refreshing chile milk stout. Great job, Deep Ellum!

Appearance: Arrives with the fudge brown colored liquid capped by an inch of foam; a few shards of lacing hang around
Smell: Roast, black bread and a hint of chocolate and smoke
Taste: Roast and black bread flavors, up front, with a touch of chocolate; in the middle, the distinct flavor of roasted Hatch chiles adds a subtle punch; the finish blends the flavors together nicely
Mouthfeel:: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice beer with the Hatch chiles adding an unusual element, though they could be a bit more powerful
