Appearance: Large somewhat coarse tan head rides atop an opaque, deep brown body. The head retention is quite good. Small, patchy lacing is scattered across the glass walls.

Aroma: Deep aroma of dark malt, cacao, baker's chocolate, coffee, and sweet alcohol.

Taste: The taste begins with substantial notes of moderately sweet chocolate. Soon after, coffee surges, but it does not overwhelm the chocolate. Later in the taste, dark roasted grains present, with some tartness. The fairly high ABV (7%) presents more by warming, than in the taste. Finishes dry with a lingering coffee and chocolate flavor and a hint of earthiness. No hops were discernible.

Mouth feel: Smooth, pleasant, and full.

Drinkability/notes: Very nice. I would not have though the style was Baltic Porter, but its excellent, regardless of the style.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

A - Pours jet black with a finger of quickly dissipating light tan head.
S - Milky sweetness upfront, a bit of carbonation sourness which progresses into light touches of bitter chocolate and coffee. Unfortunately the milk and sourness are the prevelant over the more desireable notes of a stout like chocolate and coffee.
T - Unimpressive. Light all around. Light malt, light chocolate, light coffee. More or less has straight beery beer taste with a little stout quality behind it. Drinks more like a weak porter or a heavy bock than a stout.
O - Its ok. Was much better fresh from the brewery on tap.
V - Medium low. Not really worth it unless you're a local or just really love this brewery.

a - dark brown almost black with decent carbonation and a nice creamy brown head
s - notes of toffee, chocolate , nuts and molasses
t - nice roasted porter notes up front followed by decent coffee, roasted nuts and chocolate
m - smooth with a lingering silkiness that is quite pleasant. A tad too much carbonation for a double stout/porter for my taste
o - a really nice beer that I will be drinking again
