Never heard about Deep Ellum, living in Chicago, this came as an extra in a trade.

A- Pours a super tall, thick white head that overflowed an imperial pint glass and hung on for a good while. Color is tan/caramel, mostly clear.

S- Nose was pine/grass with slight floral/citrus end.

T- This was the first beer of the afternoon, and hit me in the face with an astringent bitterness, which quickly passed. Very little amount of malt sweetness on the front end followed with brute bitterness.

M- Medium mouthfeel, not too carbonic, not too flat.

Overall - Really impressive IPA from a brewery that I had never heard of. Although not as citrusy as I usually like, it is something that I'll be asking my trading buddy for in the future.

Thanks to my buddy Brian for brining this one back from Texas. Looks very promising.

A finger plus of tan head sits atop this golden orange brew.

Has a pleasant and nicely blended aroma of butterscotch, herbal hops and citrus.

A bit of grain up front to the tongue is quickly followed by a nice hit of citrus hoppiness and some melon. The taste is simple and superb.

Medium in body with a little chalkiness at the end.

This is future hall of fame IPA right here.

First off, I've only heard a little about Deep Ellum here in Fort Worth, and today was the first time I've seen any of their beer available here, and I probably would've over looked it if their cans weren't so badass lol..

A- copper-ish I guess, great big fluffy head

S- My favorite part of an IPA is the smell, and this was very impressive. Lots of citrus, a little floral, and a little spicy hop aroma with a nice sweet background.

T- Follows the nose. Mainly nice citrus with good clean bitterness.

M- Medium-ish body, crisp finish

O- I can enjoy this one over and over.. I love it. Deep Ellum does their hoppy beers for hop heads for sure, and that's fine by me. Very bitter for a regular IPA. Great hop flavor and aroma.. Definitely worth a try, and it hangs with just about any other IPA out there in my opinion.

Awesome, new brewery to try from Texas, thanks to ApostleBrewing.

Pours a crazy large 3 finger head, can't even finish teh pour, little fizzy and pillowy head that fades at a med pace, mostly fizzy bubbles popping as it goes, and actually seems to rise a little in the middle despite the sides continuing to die back, interesting Belgiany pillowy like head, over crystal clear toasty tan slight honey like color.

Nose has nice hops, some light citrus and floral hops, fresh mostly but no resins, hint of pine and grassy hops with that, and faint spicy hops as well. A touch of sweet malt base.

Taste starts with some grainy bready malts, semi sweet and touch toasty amber malt. That is quickly way overpowered by hops, big spicy hops dominate very quickly and feel like they are bullying my taste buds into submission. Huge bitterness, a little astringent actually, with some earthy but mostly spicy hops, hint of citrus in there and light grassy floral hops, but mostly just spicy chewy hops. The mild sweetness attempts to balance it but falls well short of the runaway hops. The bitterness really spikes as the dry finish sets in, but doesn't stay overpowering for long. It does linger for quite some time, a long bitter finish, more spicy hops, like I just chewed on hop pellets, and hint of citrus and candy hop like flavors. The bitter finish really amkes me want to take another sip though, the never ending cycle.

Mouth is med bodied, good carbonation as I was expecting a ton but it seems to have mostly dissipated on the head.

Overall an interesting IPA. A well done super bitter IPA mostly, with a decent aromatic hop but little overall hop flavor as the bitterness dominates. Sweetness is a bit too mild to balance it, but then it would be a DIPA and not a super bitter hopped IPA. Keeps you coming back sip after sip though, and delivers plenty of bitterness, and in the end isn't that what it's supposed to do?

Pours hazy orangish gold with a nice 1 and 1/2 finger width head. Effervescent-looking body. This is the IPA smell I love: pineapple/ apricot, light pine and a hint of underlying malt. The only other similar style I recall with a smell rivaling this is Zombie Dust. Taste follows suit well, with bitter hops and tropical notes, some ruby red grapefruit, juicy, pine. Nice bitter linger. Juicy. perfect for my liking. Other hopheads would surely agree, especially if you like the tropical flavors/ pineapple.
Highly drinkable, mouthfeel is solidly smooth, medium carbonation.
Hop heads need to taste this. I was highly impressed. Best part for me is it's brewed in my county. Finishes pretty dry, but even so, I'd say this is now about my favorite readily available IPA, period. And I hear this is soon to be canned? That's great news if so. It'd be like the closest thing Texas has to a can of Heady.

Found at the Draught House Pub in Austin this IPA is a deep
amber/yellow-copper color with a fair white cover of randomly dispersed bubbles
and very solid lacing. The aroma has a woodsy pine hop theme with some iced tea
and caramel malt. Respectable enough. The flavor brings out a beautifully harsh evergreen with more caramel tea malt. Plenty of hop bite for sure, green, a bit grassy with a woodsy
rye overtone. This stuff is solidly medium bodied with slightly syrupy feel and
subtle but tingly carbonation. This is a drinkable IPA that really delivers the
hop bite!

Bottle with no date.

Pours a clear dark orange with ample bubbles working through the glass. Fluffy off-white head.

The aroma brings a nice fruity sweetness. Orange, grapefruit, peach, and mango. Prominent peach quality which reminds me of Hop Stoopid. Just what I like.

Bitter grapefruit, orange, and pine hops. Medium levels of body and carbonation.

Awesome regular IPA with a great aroma.
